Welcome BB…I, LH have some questions for you!
LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?
BB: I was often told I should be a lawyer when I was a kid, I guess I liked to debate. Very young I wanted to be married to a rock star and later to be an actor. It wasn’t until tenth grade in high school when my English teacher assigned Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse that the idea of being a writer began.
LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?
BB: Published by Fanny Press.
LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest offenders. Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Which form of media do you think is the worst offender?
BB: I would not group sex and violence together. I think a lot of movies, TV shows and video games glorify violence. I think it desensitizes people to the reality of war. I actually prefer my shows and movies with some sex or at least a little sexual tension. I do believe that porn gives a warped reality of sex and actually wrote a blog about that topic called The Effects of Pornography on Our Sex Culture: http://blakelybennett.fannypress.com/?p=222
LH: I’m a huge softie and by no means a beauty queen I truly would have world peace in the blink of an eye. If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?
BB: Given all that has happened lately in our society, I would get rid of guns. I’m definitely with you on world peace and would fix the environment as well. J
LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?
BB: I disagree with your premise regarding book covers and also that bookstores are becoming obsolete. Bookstores near me seem to always have plenty of people in them. I have to wait to check out. If someone recommends a book to me or I’m downloading it for free to try it out, then the cover doesn’t matter as much. However when I’m looking for a book to read in the library or the book store, it definitely factors in for me. It very much matters to me what the covers of my books look like. Maybe they don’t have as much impact online but even when I’m choosing online, the cover effects my decision.
LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?
BB: I like to get sucked into a story that stays with me until I finish it. I love when characters grow and evolve and I can feel their journey.
LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?
BB: My characters tell me what is happening AND they often surprise me. J
LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?
BB: I’m waiting to hear back from all my test readers on My Body-Mine, the third book in the trilogy. If the series does well I plan to write the prequel to the series. I have begun my next novel called And Gill Came Tumbling After… there excerpts in My Body-Mine
LH: I write for fun. Do you write for fun or money?
BB: I write for the love of it but want to make lots and lots of money too.
LH:: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?
BB: Connect with a story you can feel and then write the tale in such a way that other people can feel it via your words. I have also found that setting a writing goal is very helpful. When I wrote My Body-His, the first novel in the My Body Trilogy, I committed to writing at least twenty-five pages a week, so five pages a day Monday-Friday. Taking time away when needed helps you be fresh to continue.
It’s been a pleasure BB…Now…Let’s have some FUN!

Now for the essay part of the interview….
If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go and who would you take?
BB: I would take my husband to a gorgeous island where we could lay naked in the sun.
