Welcome EJB…I, LH have some questions for you 😉
LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. EJB: What did you want to be when you grew up?
EJB: I have always wanted to be an accomplished author.
LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?
EJB: My elementary school had a writing contest. We had to write a short story. I won EJB: 1st place out of the entire 5th grade.
LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?
EJB: I am an Indie, but I hope to one day find an Agent willing to read my books and direct me to a publisher.
LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?
EJB: I would love to, but I know how publishers dice your book up. They take out parts that the writer feels is important to the story line. I’d hate for that to happen to any of my books. The characters are my children.
LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies! Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?
EJB: I’d invite Samuel L. Jackson. I would not discuss his celebrity. I want to talk about his family tree. My 2nd brothers could be his twin – or – doppelgänger. LOL
LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest contributors. Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Ever feel conflicted and if so, why?
EJB: I totally agree. As a matter of fact, being African American I hate the stereotyping of young black men, in Hollywood. It’s always street gangs and nothing positive.
But I don’t think Hollywood is the only culprit. Erotica genre is practically the number one sellers on Amazon. Whatever happened to a good love story or leaving something to the imagination.
I feel conflicted because in order to succeed we, as writers, have conformed. That is what inspired me to write my books. These men are black Nephilim Angels sent to earth to protect God’s so loved humanity. And although there is sex and violence, in my books, they are both from a spiritual point of view.
LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?
EJB: Racism. I’d make everyone color blind. Until we can squash it out, American can never truly be the country we’d love her to be.
LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?
EJB: It’s extremely important unless you are a well know author. However, it could be as simple as a blank page, using the right fonts.
I always hated the half-naked man on the cover and when you read the book, he is nothing like the cover.
LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?
EJB: As I said, I wrote a short story when I was in the 5th grade. From that day on I was hooked. I read everything I could get my hands on, in an effort to learn how to write. However, I was scared to try. I didn’t write my 1st book until over fifty years later. But, once I got started, I couldn’t stop! I wrote thirteen books in 3 years.
LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?
EJB: It depends on the genre. If it’s a love story, it’s how the relationship develops. I’m not much on reading a story where there is a lot of game playing. We have that in real life.
I like to read where people overcome adversities and emotional challenges. I love a story where both parties in the relations are ‘all in’.
LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?
EJB: My father was larger than life. I wrote the story as I saw him. No one was more powerful than he was. He was the first man who ever loved me unconditionally. My lead character even bears his name.
I envision Brock’s Redemption on the big screen. One day!!!
LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?
EJB: Of course. I’m always working on at least 3 books at a time. Since mine is a series, it’s easier that way. It allows me to switch back and forth between books, to add or change as the new storyline develops.
LH: I’m working on #6…3 are published and the other 3 are due out this year… How many books have you written? How many have been published?
EJB: 13 have been published. I’ve just finished Book #14 (ADAM – A New Beginning and Revelations)
LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?
EJB: Not so much riches or fun. I write because I have these Paranormal visions that I need to express. However, I do appreciate the financial aspect of it.
LH: Some of my family members had a bit of a problem with me writing my first book “A Beautiful Liar” because the character Maggie West is basically me…to a point 😉 They had a problem with the genre and me “putting it all out there” so to speak so I took a pen name. They eventually came around as I have never cared who knows who I am what I’ve done or what they think of me. I’ve never wanted to be famous, just infamous! What has been your biggest problem when it comes to family or friends when writing?
EJB: I haven’t received the family support I would have liked, either. But I think it’s mostly because most of them aren’t readers. LOL!
LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?
EJB: As I said before once I decided to start writing my mine and imagination took over. I eat, sleep and dream new storylines. None of my 14 books are less than 330 pages and none are repetitive.
LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?
EJB: Don’t expect overnight success. If it is your true calling you won’t be able to avoid it. Float your own boat and embrace originality. Think beyond another writer’s concept.
LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?
EJB: I would embrace my gift earlier. I am almost 60 and a new author LOL!!! Wherein the world have I been, all of these years? I’ll tell you. I’ve been working in corporate America and making someone else’s dream come true.
LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, I’d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrong…If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?
EJB: I’d tell me to make the best of the time I have. I’d tell me to devote time to writing. Get a college education right out of high school.
I’d tell me that self-preservation is the greatest law of nature.
LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?
EJB: I am not shy in the least bit. As a matter of fact, I am overly extroverted. My twin sister tells me all the time that I’ve never met a person I call a stranger.
I live to see my books on the big screen. I wouldn’t freak out, but I’d shout for joy! I’d tell my twin and my oldest sisters. They are my biggest supporters.

EJB: I’d go to a romantic tropical Island, with my first love. I’d like to see if those same old feelings were still there. Or if they could be rekindled.
Unfortunately, that’s not possible. He’s long passed on. But if I could…
