Dear Mr. President

Miriam CareyDear Mr. President,

How did you sleep last night in your king sized bed with your Egyptian cotton sheets? Well I hope. I can’t say I slept so well myself. I dreamed I was surrounded by police, guns drawn and shots were being fired into my car. No words were said but as the life ebbed out of my body, I could see cold, dead eyes. They were your eyes sir. You had the same smile on your face that I’ve seen in all of your pictures and on television. Did you have that same smile on your face when the Secret Service called and told you they had murdered Miriam Carey? That is exactly what it was, murder.

I don’t know how many episodes of “Cops” you’ve seen with the endless vacations you take but in every single episode, once they have the vehicle “boxed in” as they did in Ms. Carey’s case, they order the suspect to show their hands, remove the suspect from the vehicle and then arrest them. Maybe then we’d know why she did what she did. Did she have a medical condition? Was she suffering from postpartum depression like her mother said? Did she have some other form of mental illness? We will never know especially in the case of this woman who had a year old baby in the backseat of her car. She was not innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. I was under the assumption that all US citizens were innocent until proven in a court of law. I guess that’s no longer the case. It was shoot first and don’t worry about asking questions…the baby won’t say anything. It’s sickening!

I could say I’m saddened but that is not even close. I am outraged. I am outraged at so many things. I am outraged that we will never know the whole story about anything on your watch. Our media is not allowed to tell us the truth. Our elected figures will not tell us the truth because well, they are politicians and they couldn’t tell us the truth if their lives depended on it and the American people have been blinded to it for so long it’s not funny.

I do want to say that I think the time has come. With you folding your arms across your chest, digging your heals in and refusing to cooperate with the others to keep the government open and benefits and other essential programs running, you have shown us that you want to bully everyone into submission. What would you do if our troops laid down their weapons and went home to their families and got civilian jobs? You can’t kill them and you can’t try them for treason because you will have broken their contract.

What would you do if Americans stopped buying anything, anywhere two or three days a week? That would bring you to your knees pretty quickly wouldn’t it? How about if people refused to work? Business refused to open to show you that “We the people” own this country, not you and your cronies? That might make an impact and show  you that you are directly affecting the lives of the very people who make this country run.

I am the daughter of a Korean Prisoner of War. He was in a hole in the ground eating dirty rice when he got to eat for 2 years and six days defending the country he loved. I’m sure he’s rolling in his grave at what’s going on now. I am also the mother of a US Marine who  is disgusted by what you’ve done when it comes to not taking care of your own in so many ways. I am disabled and cannot get the benefits I am entitled to due to you shutting down the Federal Government. I did notice that Camp David is still open and available for your pleasure. Funny how two faced you really can be.

When you were voted into office I was hopefully optimistic to the change that I thought you’d bring with you. Now I am hopefully optimistic to your replacement undoing the damage and havoc you have caused not only with our country but with the world.

I was a writer until Rheumatoid Arthritis took over my life. I know that you monitor everything I do and say. I know that your “Men in Black” can show up at my door at any time and that I could disappear at anytime. My friends, family, followers and fans all know about this letter and have been instructed to give it to all media outlets if I go “missing.”

In closing Sir, I would like to say, you have no idea how the private sector is doing. We are all worried. We are all struggling. We are all wondering when we’ll be going without food, shelter and clothing. You keep that in mind the next time you get on Air Force One and set off for your next of many vacations. I personally raised 4 strong, smart, contributing members of society with little child support and have never had a vacation.

I certainly hope you take some of my words to heart and stop this ridiculous power struggle and let our government, such as it is, govern.

Catfish

I have been inundated with “Catfish” lately. I have decided that the only way to fight them is with this. Feel free to follow my lead

Dear Catfish,

I don’t know what made you think I wouldn’t expose you.
I have written books about predators like you. I don’t
know what you’re thinking, but know this; it’s
not going to end well.

You could be honest in your words yet you choose
to use someone else’s. You could be honest by posting your pictures
and let the world see your face, yet you use pictures
of other to hide behind, causing more victims.

You prey on caring people for the thrill of it.
You gain a persons trust to ultimately break it.
You take pleasure in others pain when you should
be looking into yourself to figure out why your life
is so empty.

Know this dear Catfish, I will friend you every time you
ask. I will post this letter every chance I get so others can see you, for who you really are.

There are a lot of people out there who don’t know any better
and will believe your lies.
Be assured, I will show them that you are nothing more than a fraud.

Now that you’ve been exposed for the lying, manipulating scourge that you are,
go back to your internet cafe and boot up your laptop, make another profile for me to
expose and know that I will not stop until you do.

Sincerely,

Not a Victim
(The link proving they are not who they say they are goes here) 😉

PS. If someone out there reads this and thinks they are the victim of a catfish , Please IM me and I’ll be happy to show you how easy it is to catch them.

Today’s Tease…2 Chicks and a Blog

Welcome! Pull up a seat and enjoy a chat with Today’s Tease Ashley Smith and Manda Gammons

Your Name:  Ashley Smith and Manda Gammons

Your Title:   Bloggers – 2 Chicks and a Blog

Link to your Blog:   http://www.2chicksnablog.blogspot.com

Welcome  AS & MG…I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

AS:  I wanted to be a doctor .. but then I realized that I wasn’t meant to spend all that time in school

MG: Anything that involved kids or elderly, I thought the in between people were too crazy for me

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. When did you decide that you wanted to be a reviewer and how did you get started?

AS:  I think we were talking with a group of girlfriends and we joked about starting a blog to talk about what books we liked .. and that was June 2, 2013 .. and now here we are!

MG: Ashley. She is the reason I started reviewing for the world to see. I would still be writing and reading and nobody would ever have heard my voice if it wasn’t for her.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Do you have a preference when it comes to published or Indie authors?

AS: ehhhh I guess it depends .. I like a good book.  If the author is published or indie or not doesn’t really matter .. but I can say that most of my favorite authors are Indie

MG: A good book is a good book either way. No matter if it’s self published or not. If it catches my attention, I am in it. From start to finish, I feel it. I don’t think it matters who published it at that point, all that matters is the story

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies!      Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

AS:  oh hell!  Ummmmm … I’d invite Robin Thicke and we would NOT discuss anything but him signing Blurred Lines!

MG: HAHA I would turn over my L card for the night and have Channing Tatum come over and we wouldn’t discuss anything. He would just dance like he does in step up. Yes please.

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest contributors. Kind of ironic I know…Ever feel conflicted and if so, why?

AS:  The only time I feel conflicted is when I have to write a review for a shitty book.  It breaks my heart .. Authors put so much work into their books and for me to give a bad review is sad .. I feel conflicted like “do I really need to do this” .. but the answer is always yes ..

MG: I don’t get conflicted really. I get conflicted over bad reviews like Ash but honestly if you flip on the news there is going to be a death or somebodies panties on the front page of a magazine. At least when we read erotica, with the sex, and violence, there is usually some sort of HEA to make it worth it. In real life that is usually not the case.

LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

AS:  in the blink of an eye .. ehh .. I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that I would change the fact that fiction book boyfriends are just that .. fictional .. change that!!

MG: Make my BBF a reality and no more L card for me! No, honestly I would make every one equal.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online and what draws you to a book?

AS:  SUPER important .. if a cover looks boring I’m not buying it!

MG: The cover doesn’t have that much bearing on me. It’s more or less the synopsis and the recommendations from the Book Girls that I really listen to. And a lot of times we get ARC’s and we need to review them without the cover. So I just go with the flow.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! What drew you to reading and the reviewing?

AS: lack of a social life!  And having to speak my mind NO MATTER WHAT!

MG: I felt the need to escape reality a lot and so I would write about books in Journals all the time. Reading was my alternate reality. I can get lost in all of the books at one point or another and I would review them anyway, just now people read them and take my opinion in to account lol

LH: I send out book requests all the time and a lot of times don’t even get a reply back lol. What book did you get to review that you were like “OMFG” I can’t believe he/she wants ME to review his/her book?

AS:  Ok so I haven’t really had anyone OMFG say hey review my book .. but I have some serious author crushes .. Gail McHugh was blowing up my notifications and said she wanted to frame my conversation with another reader .. this was about Pulse!!  And when Pamela Ann sends me presents just cause .. and SE Hall, Brooke Cumberland and Angela Graham asking me to be a beta!!!  WOWZA .. total lady wood!

MG: When any author sends us or me anything I get like that. I get giddy like “omh they actually want to know what we have to say”… Pamela Ann will send us things and we get so pumped up. My favorite time was when Brooke Cumberland wanted us to review SPARK and we were all in a chat with her the whole time. She wanted to feel what we were feeling as we went along. It was awesome. She also did that with me with KITCHEN AFFAIRS and KITCHEN SCANDALS. It was phenomenal that I could share that with her. Every feeling I was feeling as we were going along.

LH: My favorite book of all times is hands down, The Notebook. What’s yours?

AS:  The Time Travelers Wife – hands down!!  The movie pissed me off

MG: I can’t say 1. I love books. I get lost in them, RRNV is up there. Pulse is up there, Anything Brooke, Anything Pamela Ann. God E.L James who started me into my Kink… I wouldn’t even know where to begin

LH: If you’ve ever read my blog, you’ve seen the page where I fight with Me, Myself and I…it really happens because I’m well, crazy like that. Do you ever fight over book reviews and if so…with whom?

AS:  Manda and I are almost always on the same page with reviews and book tastes .. We’re twin souls!!  But we CONSTANTLY fight over Pamela Ann’s Torn Series .. #TeamCarter!!

MG: BASSWHORE…. that’s all me… We don’t really argue over anything else.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

AS: < ——- Angst Whore

MG: The obstacles that they have to get over to get through to the HEA. For example, In RRNF she has to overcome some horrific and painful obstacles before she actually gets to be with the love of her life. But once she is there, I like the thought of them getting through the problems together instead of apart.  I like feeling that it could be real. That one day I could meet a fancy billionaire and get married off… lol not so much really but hey, wishful thinkin’

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. When do you know you are going to like a book or not?

AS:  First 4 chapters .. that is when I know .. When I hit that point I am either head over heals or not!

MG: First few pages and how it’s written. If I can put music with the scenes in my head, I know I can keep reading and make my own movie with lyrics in my head. I love music and I relate all books to songs (Spark-Brave)

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol How many books do you review in an average week?

AS:  Ok soooo .. I am at least a book a day girl – I probably put out 7-10 reviews a week depending on the length of a book and if I get hooked

MG: Not enough…. probably 4… It depends on how much my job takes from me that week…. cause once I get sucked in, it’s difficult to stop. Even for sleep.

LH: I’m working on #6…3 are published and the other 3 are due out this year… How many books do you have in your queue to review? Are you taking on new books to review?

AS:  18 plus blog tours we have ARC’s for!  We always take new books!

MG: ^^^^ What she said 🙂 Also, we are starting to bring in author reviewers. We always accept new books.

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Why do you review books?

AS:  Because I read them anyway and the best way to thank an author is to give a review!

MG: I am going to give my opinion anyway on a book I read. Why not have everyone else read it at the same time. I have a loud mouth and I like for people to know my opinions…. And if some day a girl/guy reads my review and decides to buy somebodies book, that means I have done a good job.

LH: I am actually afraid to ask for book reviews as I don’t like to bother people and am unsure of their reaction when I tell them the genre. Not everyone reads erotica? What is your least favorite genre and is there anything you will not review?

AS:  I will try anything once!  However, with that being said, I’m not a big fan of fantasy or paranormal

MG: No aliens. I can handle Erotica, Kink, Love, maybe even vampires… but I cannot get down with Aliens and paranormal.. or werewolves

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

AS:  That I started doing this sooner!

MG:Agreed

LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, I’d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrong…If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?

AS:  WOW .. I think I would tell my grandmother how much I loved her!!

MG:  I would tell my Rena not to worry about me.

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. If someone you did a book review for said they were offered a movie deal and it was because of your review and they were going to use you in the credits, how would you feel? Who would you tell first?

AS:  HOLY MOTHER HELL!!!  I would jump up and down (I have no shame) .. I would tell Manda .. duhhhh

MG: Oh I would def ship my pants-1, and 2- I would call Ash… Sweet lord then the book girls….

Thanks for that ferociously funny and fascinating interview girls…Now… for the fun stuff!

BOOK BLAST GIVEAWAY!

From August 26th through 31st Love is Never Past Tense will Blast across the internet.

The events described in the book occur amidst complicated changes in the political and economic system of the former Soviet Union. This is a period of great turmoil for the country and the people. A period of many broken destinies, and uprooted lives.
The book weaves its story within the discord of the country. Fear is growing, an animal fear. There remains only one way–emigration. An evacuation without bombing and without the ability to come back, the author writes. You cannot give a better definition.
The rest you will need to read. Because of this, the book delivers multifaceted, versatile content in huge volume to the reader’s range of vision. In some special moments, the author makes us breathless, frantic with worry, and hoping to relax if a satisfactory solution of the situation arrives.

Excerpt

A splash was heard…

A splash was heard. It was a wave that went over the top of the gunwales, and the boat immediately became heavier. “Two more such waves and everything will be over.” The old man spoke in catalepsy, and his hand convulsively stretched out to the ropes. But they had become wet and did not want to be untied. Besides, to unwind them, time was needed. There wasn’t any more time left. The old man began to take out handfuls of water: the instinctive animal actions of a dying person. “The ropes should be cut. But with what? I threw out everything.” Panic possessed him, although he understood that panicking was not allowed. But there was no decision. A chance for rescue did not remain. There was only a sinking boat, a stone, and himself, fatally tied to this stone.

Today’s Tease…DV Berkom

Welcome! Pull up a seat and enjoy a chat with Today’s Tease DV Berkom

Your Name or Pen Name you use:  DV Berkom

Title of the book you are promoting:  Yucatan Dead: A Kate Jones Thriller

Link to purchase your Book:  http://www.amazon.com/Yucatan-Jones-Thriller-Series-ebook/dp/B00DME2GAI

Genre: Action-adventure, thriller

Welcome  DV…I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

DV: A female James Bond, a pirate, and Cyd Charisse.

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

DV: One of my favorite authors is Carl Hiaasen, mainly because he makes me LOL with his scathing wit and fabulous characters, but also because he’s able to inform as well as amuse. I could never write satire as well as he does, but his work inspired me to write about things that matter while still trying to entertain folks.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

DV: With my control-freakazoid tendencies, Indie all the way J

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

DV: It depends. If it were a print-only contract, I’d consider it. I don’t see giving up my e-rights as being a smart move at this point in my career unless the offer blew my socks off.

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies! Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

DV: Dorothy Parker, and I wouldn’t discuss past relationships.

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest contributors.  Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Ever feel conflicted and if so, why?

DV: Yes to all of the above, and I’m a contributor. Well, mainly the violence part. I write thrillers—I love to blow things up and give my heroines guns and other incendiary devices. I figured one of the best ways to get my point across that women can take care of themselves was to give my characters the same opportunities as their male counterparts had in their books. Yes, there’s too much violence in the world, but until victims take control and start fighting back, the bad guys are going to win and it’s just going to escalate. I know, not the most enlightened response, but I never said I was enlightened.

LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

DV: I’d make everybody want to go ‘green’ and actually take care of this amazing planet. Other than that, puppies and unicorns for everyone!

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

DV: Very. I’ve seen it in sales of my own books. The outside should entice and draw you deeper into the book. If a cover looks amateurish and the description is bad, then I won’t bother to look inside. I think that if the author doesn’t care to give their work the best presentation they can, then they probably don’t work very hard on their craft. Now, if you can’t afford to hire a graphic designer and you have to make your own cover, then that’s something else, entirely.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

DV: It was never a ‘want’—more like something I just naturally did. I wrote my first story at seven and dabbled throughout my life until I finished my first novel in 2006. After that, I was hooked!

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

DV: Good pacing, well-drawn characters, and an interesting story. I get bored easily, so if a book doesn’t keep my interest I will very rarely finish it.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

DV: I usually get my ideas from the news. Something hits me between the eyes and I can ‘see’ the main characters, and many of the secondary ones. The idea has to move me in some way, or I won’t see it through. The Kate Jones Thriller series began when reports of rising cartel violence began trickling north. The book Serial Date was my response to the over-abundance of scripted reality shows. I wrote Bad Traffick after watching a documentary on child sex-trafficking.

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

DV: Yes—the sequel to Yucatan Dead.

LH: I’m working on #6…5 are published and the other is due out this year… How many books have you written? How many have been published?

DV: I’ve written 6 in the Kate Jones series (the 7th installment is scheduled to be released by the end of the year) and two novels featuring former assassin Leine Basso.

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?

DV: Definitely fun. If I’d done it for money, I would’ve quit long ago. I can’t imagine doing anything else.

LH: Some of my family members had a bit of a problem with me writing my first book “A Beautiful Liar” because the character Maggie West is basically me…to a point 😉 They had a problem with the genre and me “putting it all out there” so to speak so I took a pen name. They eventually came around as I have never cared who knows who I am what I’ve done or what they think of me. I’ve never wanted to be famous, just infamous! What has been your biggest problem when it comes to family or friends when writing?

DV: Realizing that a closed door means Do.Not.Disturb. J

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

DV: I wouldn’t call it writer’s block. If I get stuck on something it means I need to backtrack because something’s not right.

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

DV: Read a lot. Write more.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

DV: I would have bought more shares of Amazon.com and Apple.

LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, I’d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrong…If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?

DV: I’d go back to 1920s Paris and tell Hemingway and Fitzgerald to mentor me J

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

DV: After hyperventilating, I’d break out the bubbly and tell my partner, Mark. Happy dancing would ensue.

Thanks for that interesting and awesome interview…Now… for the fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage? Strawberry lemonade or a nice cabernet.

Exercise or Bubble Bath? Hiking or swimming, so apparently exercise.

Favorite Color? Red

Take out or Dine in? Dine in. My better half is a professionally-trained chef and he loves to cook.

Camping or Hotel? Camping. I LOVE the outdoors.

Sports or Chocolate? Chocolate.

Dogs or Cats? I like dogs, but cats are way better pets for me. I like independent types.

Favorite Food? Right now? Fresh-picked veggies from my garden.

Favorite Song? That’s a tough one. I have many. I’m always up for John Hyatt’s ‘Paperthin’, or Joe Cocker’s rendition of ‘You Can Leave Your Hat On’, or Santana’s ‘Smooth’. Then there’s ‘Gimme Shelter’ by the Rolling Stones, and anything by Adele.

Favorite Movie? Casino Royale (Daniel Craig is the best. James. Bond. Ever.) or any of the Bourne movies.

Favorite Car? Aston Martin, of course.

Sex or Chocolate? (The answer “Both” is totally acceptable 😉 Both, at the same time 😉

And now for the essay part of the interview 😉

If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go, what would you do and who would you take?

DV: I’d go to St. John in the USVI with my partner, Mark and we’d spend our days snorkeling, sailing, eating great food and drinking rum until we couldn’t anymore. Of course, not everything all at once, although I’d be happy to give it a shot.

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge | Good Books And Good Wine

Day 3: Who are your blogging BFFS?

My Blogging BFF is Barbara C Rowe!

She is new to blogging but is catching on quick!

She is an AWESOME author, poet, artist, jeweler and friend!
Check her out at

http://barbaracroweauthor.wordpress.com/

Gonna brag on her a bit now…

One Little Angel

There was a wee, small, little angel

who tried so hard to please.

Her only chore was ringing the choir bell,

but nothing came with ease.

Because the older angels disregarded her chore,

one day she asked if she could see Jesus.

But her request they did ignore,

and paid no attention to her fuss.

This wee, small, little angel was so dear.

She cried and prayed for something special to do,

but none of the others bothered to hear.

She prayed and asked Jesus if what she did was important, too.

The next morning she was called to see the Holy One

for He wanted to hear what she had to say.

He replied to her, “I am God’s only Son,

and you are loved in every way.”

He assigned her to stay by his side

to welcome all the wee little ones,

and to assure them in heaven they would reside,

babies who were someone’s daughter or son.

Each evening she would climb in Jesus’ lap,

knowing she was also loved by his Holy Grace.

Her new task fully filled the gap.

Now she felt important in this celestial place.

By Barbara C Rowe (and the basis for her short story book coming soon!)

Today’s Tease….Elizabeth “E.” Rose and Tina Pollick

Welcome! Pull up a seat and enjoy a chat with Today’s Tease Elizabeth Rose or E. Rose  and Tina Pollick

Your Name or Pen Name you use: Elizabeth Rose or E. Rose  and Tina Pollick

Title of the book you are promoting:  Shadow of Hope

Link to purchase your Book: http://www.amazon.com/Shadow-of-Hope-ebook/dp/B00DHW0MLK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372185580&sr=8-1&keywords=Shadow+of+Hope

Genre:  Paranormal Romance

Welcome  E&T…I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

E: A Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. :3 Also a veterinarian.

T: A nurse, teacher and writer. Two out of three isn’t bad 😉

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

E: I’d have to say mostly Tina. She introduced me to the concept that I could actually get paid for writing a book. I had no idea how to publish before that.

T: I’m with you LH, I don’t have a cool story either. (hugs) to Elizabeth!

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

E: Indie meaning self-published? If so, I am an Indie author at the moment.

T: My first was published by a publisher, I have a three series novella that will be published through a publisher, but I’m kind of backwards… this is my first self published work. *laughs*

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

E: I just like being published. Indie or traditional doesn’t really matter to me, but I do think there are better opportunities for getting yourself out there with traditional publication. The publishing houses have more resources to promote their authors than the average author themselves have just starting out. When you self-publish, you have a limited venue in which to represent your work to the broader majority of people out there, in my limited opinion.

T: This is my first go as a self published… it’s a lot of work, but I’m enjoying the freedom too. I’ll self pub again, but I also will submit to my publisher again too.

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies!      Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

E: I’d like to have dinner with Jane Austin and pick her brain. The one thing, however, I would NOT ask about is her sister, LOL (This is one of those things people either know or don’t, and if you don’t you’re probably better off NOT knowing. 😉 LOL)

T: Hmmm, I had to ask my husband because I don’t know. *laughs* He said Matt Damon and Vin Diesel. I don’t know who it would be, but there would be a NO talking clause in effect. *laughs*

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest contributors.  Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Ever feel conflicted and if so, why?

E: Here’s the problem; Hollywood comes under constant attack for this, but the reality is it’s biased. A famous author making a violent book filled with sex is not attacked for writing that book, yet a Hollywood scriptwriter doing the same thing is. George R.R. Martin’s Fire and Ice saga (one of the few perks I had with my ex-BF is he started me on this series, and it is completely awesome!) is filled with incest, violence and other sexually explicit scenes. Does that make him a bad writer? No. It’s contextually relevant to the time frame he’s writing in. The reality is you cannot tell a good story without some of these elements. If you do, it lacks the feeling of realism.

HBO has picked up the Fire and Ice saga with the title Game of Thrones, and it has garnered little else besides very high praise. This is why I say outcries of sex and violence all being Hollywood’s fault is subject to heavy bias.

Overly gratuitous violence and sex without reason or context is, however, one thing I cannot stand in any work.

LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

E: I would want people to understand each other and give each other a chance. That is the starting point of world peace. 🙂

T: Damn… how can you beat world peace? Okay world peace. 😉

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

E: I’ve read books on my Kindle Fire. I think a proper cover is essential even in the electronic arena. Whether or not people want to admit it, the cover still plays a very important part in whether a person chooses to ‘pick up’ that book and decide to read the blurb or otherwise find out more about it. As you can see from the cover for Shadow of Hope, I think it’s safe to say Tina and I both felt the same way on this.

T: Covers are still important. With millions of eBooks to choose from you have to use every advantage you can to ‘attract’ readers to take a chance on you.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

E: I was always writing stuff as a child. But it was Tina who got me started professionally. Shadow of Hope is my first published work.

T: Late start here too.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

E: The characters are, and will always be the meat of the work. But if you have beautifully crafted characters against bad writing or a boring plot, you lose the readers. I try to look at all elements to decide how good a story is, but the characters are definitely a bulk of my ‘interest’ in a story.

T: I need action. I need a fast paced story with interesting characters and a great storyline and can I have fries with that? 😉

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

E: This is hard to explain. It’s like, one day I get an idea, and I want to see where it goes, so I write a story. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t, LOL

T: You are so LUCKY LH! With Shadow of Hope it was inspired by a picture, but usually I have a really, teeney, tiny idea that I have to yank, tug and pull into something.

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

E: I’m going to try to solo. I have a lot of interesting story ideas. But I also want to hone my writing so I look less amateurish on paper. So no, I’m not working on a specific project right now. But definitely sometime soon.

T: I took two weeks off and then I’m back at it. I have one due in four weeks my publisher and another I’m going to self publish… soon.

LH: I’m working on #6…3 are published and the other 3 are due out this year… How many books have you written? How many have been published?

E: One. And one, LOL See above. :3

T: I have one published in Jan-13, one this month, one next and one in August. J

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?

E: I’ve always ‘just written’. I had no idea you could actually make money on it until Tina taught me about the publishing industry. So yeah, I write for fun, LOL If I make a buck or two doing that, well that’s just fine with me. J

T: I have a full-time job, but I’d love to write full-time. I’d also like a Mercedes, a house on the beach, and some frequent flyer miles. What? As long as I’m wishing I better make it good! *laughs*

E: This has never been an issue. When I started Shadow of Hope I had nothing more from my family than they had ever given me in anything else; their unconditional love and support. For that, I am truly blessed. 😉

T: I hate creating character names so creating an alternate identity wasn’t going to happen. I’m not that creative. *laughs* Really, I don’t write anything I’d be embarrassed about, although my kids can’t read it right now. Write what comes to you and let the universe take care of the rest. J

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

E: I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced a proper ‘writer’s block’. When I write for myself, I have no compulsions besides my own. If the story falls flat, or loses interest, I can abandon it. On Shadow of Hope, I had Tina’s guidance and expertise, so I had an additional brain to work with there, LOL When something wasn’t working, she could bring it back on track. I have no idea how this will play out when I solo. *shrugs* LOL

T: Yes and it sucks! I think it may be more of a time of the year thing though, but I didn’t write ANYTHING for three months. I was miserable.

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

E: Being a new writer myself, the only thing I can say is get a mentor who has experience in the field, It is invaluable on a first book.

T: You know the typical answer… write.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

E: All the guys I dated that I should’ve known better than to date in the first place, LOL

T: Nothing, I’m with you. I am who I am, for better or worse. The trials have molded me into who I am and I’m okay with the person who stares back at me. J

LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, I’d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrong…If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?

E: See above answer. I’d tell them all ‘no’. LOL

T: I’d visit a younger version of myself and let her know it’ll all work out. 😉

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

E: I would have to handle it as it came up. I mean, seriously, how can you even prepare for such a thing? You can’t. So you’d have to deal with it as it unfolded, like any other surprise in life, but this would be a little easier to handle, because most surprises in life are nasty, LOL

I’d tell Tina, OFC, LOL

T: Make room for me under the bed LH. Elizabeth would handle it all 😉

Thanks for that fun and interesting interview E & T…Now… for the fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage? E: Dasani and lemon juice.T: Raspberry Margarita

Exercise or Bubble Bath? E: Bubble bath every time. 😉 T: Bubble bath

Favorite Color? E: Sapphire.T: Midnight Blue

Take out or Dine in? E: Dine in.T: Take out

Camping or Hotel? E: Hotel.T: Camping

Sports or Chocolate? E: Chocolate.T: ? *laughs* Chocolate paired with anything would be chocolate!

Favorite Food? E: Shrimp scampi T:Japanese

And now for the essay part of the interview 😉

If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go, what would you do and who would you take?

E: Hugh Jackman. What I’d do cannot be repeated here. And I’d go to Paris. :3

T: I’d take my husband and we’d try and expand our family, even though that’s impossible now *laughs* and we’d do it often J And we both want to go to Ireland, so we’d go there  😉

Today’s Tease…EJ BROCK

Welcome! Pull up a seat and enjoy a chat with Today’s Tease EJ Brock

Your Name or Pen Name you use:  EJ BROCK

Title of the book you are promoting:  BROCK’S REDEMPTION

Link to purchase your Book:  http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=BROCKS+REDEMPTION

Genre:  PARANORMAL ROMANCE

Welcome  EJB…I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. EJB: What did you want to be when you grew up?

EJB: I have always wanted to be an accomplished author.

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

EJB: My elementary school had a writing contest.  We had to write a short story.  I won EJB: 1st place out of the entire 5th grade.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

EJB: I am an Indie, but I hope to one day find an Agent willing to read my books and direct me to a publisher.

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

EJB: I would love to, but I know how publishers dice your book up.  They take out parts that the writer feels is important to the story line.  I’d hate for that to happen to any of my books.  The characters are my children.

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies!      Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

EJB: I’d invite Samuel L. Jackson.  I would not discuss his celebrity.  I want to talk about his family tree.  My 2nd brothers could be his twin – or – doppelgänger.  LOL

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest contributors. Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Ever feel conflicted and if so, why?

EJB: I totally agree.  As a matter of fact, being African American I hate the stereotyping of young black men, in Hollywood.  It’s always street gangs and nothing positive.

But I don’t think Hollywood is the only culprit.  Erotica genre is practically the number one sellers on Amazon.  Whatever happened to a good love story or leaving something to the imagination.

I feel conflicted because in order to succeed we, as writers, have conformed.   That is what inspired me to write my books.  These men are black Nephilim Angels sent to earth to protect God’s so loved humanity.  And although there is sex and violence, in my books, they are both from a spiritual point of view.

LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

EJB: Racism.  I’d make everyone color blind.  Until we can squash it out, American can never truly be the country we’d love her to be.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

EJB: It’s extremely important unless you are a well know author.  However, it could be as simple as a blank page, using the right fonts.

I always hated the half-naked man on the cover and when you read the book, he is nothing like the cover.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

EJB: As I said, I wrote a short story when I was in the 5th grade.  From that day on I was hooked.  I read everything I could get my hands on, in an effort to learn how to write.  However, I was scared to try.  I didn’t write my 1st book until over fifty years later.  But, once I got started, I couldn’t stop!  I wrote thirteen books in 3 years.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

EJB: It depends on the genre.  If it’s a love story, it’s how the relationship develops.  I’m not much on reading a story where there is a lot of game playing.  We have that in real life.

I like to read where people overcome adversities and emotional challenges.  I love a story where both parties in the relations are ‘all in’.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

EJB: My father was larger than life.  I wrote the story as I saw him.  No one was more powerful than he was.  He was the first man who ever loved me unconditionally.  My lead character even bears his name.

I envision Brock’s Redemption on the big screen.  One day!!!

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

EJB: Of course.  I’m always working on at least 3 books at a time.  Since mine is a series, it’s easier that way.  It allows me to switch back and forth between books, to add or change as the new storyline develops.

LH: I’m working on #6…3 are published and the other 3 are due out this year… How many books have you written? How many have been published?

EJB: 13 have been published.  I’ve just finished Book #14 (ADAM – A New Beginning and Revelations)

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?

EJB: Not so much riches or fun.  I write because I have these Paranormal visions that I need to express.  However, I do appreciate the financial aspect of it.

EJB: I haven’t received the family support I would have liked, either.  But I think it’s mostly because most of them aren’t readers.  LOL!

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

EJB: As I said before once I decided to start writing my mine and imagination took over.  I eat, sleep and dream new storylines.  None of my 14 books are less than 330 pages and none are repetitive.

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

EJB: Don’t expect overnight success.  If it is your true calling you won’t be able to avoid it.  Float your own boat and embrace originality.  Think beyond another writer’s concept.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

EJB: I would embrace my gift earlier.  I am almost 60 and a new author LOL!!!  Wherein the world have I been, all of these years?  I’ll tell you.  I’ve been working in corporate America and making someone else’s dream come true.

LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, I’d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrong…If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?

EJB: I’d tell me to make the best of the time I have.  I’d tell me to devote time to writing.  Get a college education right out of high school.

I’d tell me that self-preservation is the greatest law of nature.

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

EJB: I am not shy in the least bit.  As a matter of fact, I am overly extroverted.  My twin sister tells me all the time that I’ve never met a person I call a stranger.

I live to see my books on the big screen.  I wouldn’t freak out, but I’d shout for joy!  I’d tell my twin and my oldest sisters.  They are my biggest supporters.

Thank you for that heartfelt and interesting interview EJB…Now… for the fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage?  Peach Ice Tea with Lemon.
Exercise or Bubble Bath?  Exercise and then Bubble Bath!  LOL!!!
Favorite Color? Any variation of….Peach
Take out or Dine in? Dine in.  Meet more people that way.
Camping or Hotel? Hotel, no doubt.  I ain’t trying to sleep anywhere that there isn’t air conditioning and/or heat.
Sports or Chocolate? Chocolate
Dogs or Cats?  Dogs
Favorite Food?  Steak
Favorite Song?  Amazing Grace
Favorite Movie?  Imitation of Life
Favorite Car? Trailblazer
Sex or Chocolate? (The answer “Both” is totally acceptable 😉 Sex; especially if it’s a chocolate brotha!

And now for the essay part of the interview 😉

If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go, what would you do and who would you take?

EJB: I’d go to a romantic tropical Island, with my first love.  I’d like to see if those same old feelings were still there.  Or if they could be rekindled.

Unfortunately, that’s not possible.  He’s long passed on.  But if I could…
