Welcome SS…I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

SS: I have always loved literature and desired to work in that field somehow.

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

SS:  I honestly am in the same boat that you are, no one influenced me as I have always had an innate love of literature

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author? SS: I’m an Indie

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

SS: I think so, because I believe that it gives credibility and that they can promote your work effectively.

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies! Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

SS: Marilyn Monroe and I wouldn’t discuss drugs…

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest offenders. Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Which form of media do you think is the worst offender?

SS: How can I judge that and I write erotica/crime fiction?

LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

SS: End Hunger!

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

SS: I do my own covers so I hope it’s all good.

Personally I go by the sample read.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

SS: I started writing short stories on a blog two years ago and I have always wanted to write

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

SS: I like feisty women and men that know how to handle them.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

SS: I stay motivated, I can’t keep up with all of my ideas.

I have a very vivid imagination.

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

SS: I’m always working on something..

LH: I’m working on #6…3 are published and the other 3 are due out this year… How many books have you written? How many have been published?

SS: 21 published e-books on Amazon

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?

SS: Both but I have to write to stay sane.

LH: Some of my family members had a bit of a problem with me writing my first book “A Beautiful Liar” because the character Maggie West is basically me…to a point 😉 They had a problem with the genre and me “putting it all out there” so to speak so I took a pen name. They eventually came around as I have never cared who knows who I am what I’ve done or what they think of me. I’ve never wanted to be famous, just infamous! What has been your biggest problem when it comes to family or friends when writing?

SS: I write under a pen name and if it blows up like 50 shades did then I will say, “To heck with it.”

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

SS: No, I stay motivated..

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

SS: Do it for the love of the art first and foremost.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

SS: I honestly don’t think that I would change anything because it has made me who I am today.

LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, I’d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrong…If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?

SS: I would probably tell society as a whole about the internet but who would believe that technology would advance to the point that it has?

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

SS: No, I am used to dealing with the public so it wouldn’t bother me, I would just do more philanthropy work…

Thank you for that interesting interview SS…Now… for the fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage? Milk

Exercise or Bubble Bath? Excercise

Favorite Color? I don’t have one.

Take out or Dine in? Dine in

Camping or Hotel? Hotel

Sports or Chocolate? Chocolate

Dogs or Cats? Aww, that isn’t fair, both

Favorite Food? I’m moody

Favorite Song? Unchain my heart among others by artists such as Nina Simone and Etta James

Favorite Movie? GI Jane

Favorite Car? I’m moody on that too.

Sex or Chocolate? (The answer “Both” is totally acceptable 😉

And now for the essay part of the interview 😉

LH: If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go, what would you do and who would you take?

SS: I would find my character James and go tropical, anywhere tropical…

Today’s Tease…Dylan Cross

Welcome! Pull up a seat and enjoy a chat with Today’s Tease Dylan Cross

Your Name or Pen Name you use:  Dylan Cross

Title of the book you are promoting:  Back to School

Link to purchase your Book:  www.dontcrossdylan.com (and from my page, you can choose either Smashwords or Amazon, depending upon your personal preference)

Genre:  BDSM

Welcome DC…I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

DC: I had a few girlfriends for whom I would write naughty e-mail stories.  One of them became my short story “A Letter of Appreciation.”  The gals didn’t know one another, so I would just use a text editor’s “find and replace” feature to change the name, then send each of them the story.

A road adventure with another girlfriend at 75mph eventually was written down and became the basis for “Road Trip.”

Oddly, what finally convinced me to start publishing my erotica had nothing to do with sex.  In my “day job” I often have to write up summaries detailing my methods for dealing with an angry customer and solving a problem, and a coworker told me that my writing was very eloquent and well-formulated.  So I decided to try my hand at writing.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

DC: I am independent at this time.

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

DC: I don’t think so, because I’d have to relinquish control to a degree.  I often like to do things at my own pace.

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies! Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

DC: Cleopatra.  Legend has it that she had a very specific talent, perhaps the best in recorded history.  I’d love to find out for myself! And hopefully we wouldn’t “discuss” much of anything!

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest contributors. Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Ever feel conflicted and if so, why?

DC: I think blaming it on the entertainment industry (which, at this point, would include me) is a copout.  Seeing something in fiction doesn’t give one license to behave unacceptably.

In the 80’s, we had Lethal Weapon.  Despite seeing it many times, I’ve never gone out and killed people outside of the Laws of War.  I also got a great education from the public school system.

If you’re looking to point the finger for the problems in society, look at the parents and the modern education system.  We’re worried about hurting the kids’ feelings rather than teaching them and letting them learn that life doesn’t hand everything to them.  They participate in extracurricular activities where everyone makes the team, and everyone gets a trophy.

LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

DC: I’d get rid of mosquitoes.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

DC: I think they’re very important.  It’s the very first look someone is going to get at your book.  If they’re scrolling through a page containing dozens of book listings, such as on Goodreads, and your cover art is eye-catching, now they’re taking time to read a description, then maybe a review.  You’re well on the way to acquiring a new reader, who otherwise might have kept going.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

DC: I can get them from a variety of places.  “Back to School” originated with a status update on a friend’s Facebook wall.  She mentioned that she’d gone to the high school to pick up her daughter, and one of the guidance counselors not only thought she was a student, but wanted to give her detention for ditching class!  It quickly became an entire story.

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

DC: I am working on the prequel for “Road Trip.”  It will be titled “Amanda’s Descent” and will tell us how Amanda got into her predicament.

Aside from writing, I’m involved in another exciting project.  We’re forming a “guild” of erotic authors.  This will be an organization that will allow us to collaborate.  Also, it will allow us to being credibility to the erotica genre.  Too often, stigma and generalization follow us as erotica writers.

LH: I’m working on #6…3 are published and the other 3 are due out this year… How many books have you written? How many have been published?

DC: I have 11 now.

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?

DC: I have a day job, but I enjoy the supplemental income at this point.  However, I wouldn’t write if it wasn’t fun.

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

DC: I just write something else.  Or, I skip to a different part of the same book, like the ending, and I write that.  Or, sometimes just writing a basic outline helps.

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

DC: Stay away from KDP Select on Amazon.  It gains you nothing.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

DC: I’d go invest in Apple or Google.

LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, I’d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrong…If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?

DC: Mr. President!  Duck!

Actually I wouldn’t change anything, because it would affect the space-time continuum and might even cause myself to not exist.

Thank you for that funny and candid interview DC…Now… for the fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage? I just poured one of those $1 mini-bottles of wine into a glass, added ice and topped it with raspberry lemonade.  But then again, this has been a rather brutal grilling!
Exercise or Bubble Bath? If it were with certain members of my fan base, could knock both out at once!
(switching to sarcastic Jack Nicholson voice)  What would you like to discuss next.  My favorite color?
Oh, wait:
Favorite Color? Teal
Take out or Dine in? We have a Mongolian Stir-fry grill nearby.  Select all your meat, vegetables, pasta, sauces, spices and put them in a bowl, then they fry it up for you.  And, if you don’t like the food, you have nobody to blame but yourself!
Camping or Hotel? I’d like to go camping in a cabin.  With my Macbook and a bunch of story outlines.  With NO cell phone or wifi coverage.
Sports or Chocolate? Football!
Dogs or Cats? Dogs, definitely…
Favorite Food? Fried chicken
Favorite Song? How Can I Help You Say Goodbye by Patty Loveless is probably the most powerful song ever written.
Favorite Movie? Almost Famous.  You don’t even need to watch the entire movie.  Just start at “I am a golden god” and watch thru “Rock stars have kidnapped my son”.
Favorite Car? The UglyMicheleMobile.  Oh, that’s right, most people know it as the PT Cruiser…
Sex or Chocolate? (The answer “Both” is totally acceptable 😉 Sex WITH chocolate…

 Genre:  Erotica, romance, BDSM

Welcome LP…I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

LP: Professional rodeo rider, firefighter, and … Yes, like all girls I’ve had my ballerina period. 🙂

LH:didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

LP:Eh, that would have been my son. He wanted pirate stories in which things actually happened and not the boring child stuff. Mind you he was only three when asking.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

LP: Indie! And proud of it.

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

LP: I very nearly answered this question in the above one, again I was too fast. 🙂 Speed, the bane of my life. No patience, none at all. Erm, where were we? Oh, yes, why not traditional? That must be because I’m a control freak and want to have last say in everything. Although I must say the one person I do listen to is my editor David Gilmore, he never fails to find the SPaG and eliminates it. Puts the dots on the i’s and crosses the last t’s.

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies!  Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

LP: A certain live-writer–no, I’m not naming names–and I would not discuss writing with him.

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest offenders.  Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Which form of media do you think is the worst offender?

LP: I think sex and violence are, and have always been, a part of humanity. My only concern is that instead of educating children, parents and teachers choose to scare people in reaction to what has always been there. Not solving the problem, but feeding it.

LH: I’m a huge softie and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

LP: Humanity’s destructive nature.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

LP: Now that all shopping, and most certainly book shopping, is done online I think the cover is even more important. In a store a buyer–potential reader–would pick up a book and leaf through it read a para here and there. Online? It’s title, author and, if it’s a series nothing matters, cover. Snap-shot decisions are made online. First thing a potential reader sees is not the blurb. It is the cover which draws the eye to the book to read the blurb. A lot of indies forget this and forget to check if everything is still legible on a thumbnail sized picture. (its how your book shows up in searches, a thumbnail picture), ending up with an illegible byline, or even title.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

LP: I have written things for as long as I can remember. I can remember reading the labels of everything at any occasion from the moment I could. When I finally could write, I was unstoppable. I copied each word I read and made up the most flunky sentences.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

LP: It all has to fit like a puzzle. Characters have to fit into the scene, and the scene should fit the characters. I can’t say I read all vampire books because they have vampires in it. Or I read western detectives because they’re set in the Wild-West. What I mean is, a story either interests me, or it doesn’t.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

LP: That is how I start out too! But then those pesky characters come to life and they run rampage and take it all away from me, doing whatever they see fit and when they do. I have totally no control over the whole thing once they take over.

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

LP: Wheeeeheeee! I am currently writing the last scene of the last short story for my summer collection. Suspense, horror, crime, zombie, that’s the genre. I thought I’d mention it before you ask. 🙂

LH: I’m working on #6…3 are published and the other 3 are due out this year… How many books have you written? How many have been published?

LP: I’ve written a gazillion short stories and three novels. I have three short story collections published and my first novel is in its last stages before publication.

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?

LP: It has to be fun. If I were to have no fun in writing I would not be able to do it. That being said I must admit that I’m in it for the money. Hahahaha, I mean it would be great to be able to pay the rent with the royalties, but being realistic I must admit that that goal might be a few years away from now. However it would be great to be able to say my writing enables me to live a writerly life.

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

LP: Nope, never had such a thing. I’m too filled with those stories and characters who all need to come out it seems. I wake up with a scene, or even just a sentence and it goes on until I go to bed. Can be somewhat inconvenient at times. Especially when you are in the middle of a dead serious conversation and you have to excuse yourself because you just had to write down. “His gait had a swing to it. I could do nothing but fall in step with him to follow him to hell and back.”

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

LP: Just write down everything which pours from your brain. Don’t try to please everyone you show your work, there will always be people who won’t like your work. But be realistic. If ten people who read your work all find the same mistake, don’t continue it.

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

LP: Like I handle my being an author. I’d keep certain details of my life private while all that is part of the story or the movie would be public. I guess the first one who would know is the one who shares my life.

Thank you for the interesting and informative interview LP…Now… for the fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage? Calvados

Exercise or Bubble Bath? Exercise

Favorite Color? Blue, brown and green

Take out or Dine in? Dine in

Camping or Hotel? With the right person … Camping

Sports or Chocolate? And.

Dogs or Cats? Dogs

Favorite Food? mac ‘n cheese

Favorite Song? Butterfly Kisses, requiem Mozart

Favorite Movie? Bladerunner

Favorite Car? The one that takes me to where I need to be.

Sex or Chocolate? (The answer “Both” is totally acceptable 😉 Hahahaha, first sex and when it’s done, a short nap followed by chocolate.

And now for the essay part of the interview 😉

If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go, what would you do and who would you take?

LP: I would go to Burning Man, we would have a week filled with music, art, craziness and … 🙂 And I would take the man who makes me laugh. That in itself is the synopsis for my next novella. Wheeeeheeee. Forgive me if I don’t give you the third draft.

Thank you so much for spending time with us today and make sure get your copy of…  Lucy Pireel’s
