 Genre: Non Fiction

Welcome  SS….I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

SS: I have always wanted to be a nurse, so I could take care of everyone and help make them better.

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

SS: I would have to say it was Author Genevieve Scholl, She has been there every step of the way through this journey. She was the one who told me I needed to write this book.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

SS: I am an Indie

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

SS: I really don’t know, I have not dealt with publisher before so I don’t know how it would be.

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies!  Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

SS: Vin Diesel and we would not be talking much at all.

LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

SS: I want all the hate and judging to go away. I think if people would love more and not be so judging the world would be a better place.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

SS:  I do look at the covers first, if it catches my eye I usually read it. I also like paperbacks to read better then e-books.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

SS:  I wrote in a journal when I was young but I never wanted to be a writer until now.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

SS:  It has to catch me from the beginning or I lose interest and won’t finish it. I love action, romance and paranormal.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

SS: Mine are from my life experiences

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

SS: Yes part two of my first book. It will be titled Aftermath Of An addiction. The cover reveal will be on March 7th, 2014 and it will be released in May 2014. I am also doing my first YA book called Spirit Riders which will be out this fall.

LH: I have 6 books out. How many books have you written? How many have been published?

SS:  I have one published and I am working on two now.

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?

SS: I have a message I want to get out there to my readers. I am not in this to become rich or famous.

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

SS: I have and I had to stop writing for a while and then I would go back in a few days and it was back.

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

SS: I would say let nothing stop you, just keep writing.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

SS:  I would have to say that if I could change one thing it would be that my daughter never would have become an addict.

LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, I’d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrong…If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?

SS: I would have to say my father and I would tell him how much I love him because I never did and it was too late after he had past away.

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

SS:  I would tell my family and I would be shocked.

Thank you for that honest and real interview SS…Now… for the fun stuff!

SS:  I would have to say Ireland and I would take my niece Kathy with me and we would explore everything there. I have always wanted to go there because my family came from Ireland. Maybe find a Irish man to hang out with too.

Genre:  Paranormal Romance

Welcome  BF..I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

BF: I remember wanting to be a nurse for like one day. After that I wanted to be a newspaper journalist; the youngest author to ever hit the New York Times Bestseller’s List; then I settled on an attorney and fiction novelist.

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

BF: I’m a compulsive reader and I enjoy a wide variety of authors like Agatha Christie, David Gemmel, Nora Roberts, Stephen King, Anne Rice, John Grisham, Jeffrey Archer, Jude Deveraux, John Jakes, we’ll be here all day if I keep going. I hope no one influenced me; I’d prefer to have my own distinct style.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

BF: I’m not self-published and I’ve got contracts with three publishers, so I guess I was discovered, ha! I hadn’t realized I’d been discovered – how about that?! =D

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies! Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

BF: I’d like to say Nathan Fillion and Firefly/Serenity but that would require sawing off my own tongue (I’m a Browncoat!) and as my fiancé believes he has a say in what body parts I get to saw off – I’ll have to go with John Lennon. And not discuss politics.

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest contributors.  Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Ever feel conflicted and if so, why?

BF: Our society is inundated with sex and violence, especially in entertainment and media, television, movies, books, music, even video games, it’s everywhere. And as a mother I’m extraordinarily concerned about it. However, in addition to paranormal romance and contemporary romance, I also write erotica and it sounds hypocritical as hell for me to make that statement. But, and here’s where I could lose friends, as a parent it is my job to monitor and limit to what my children are exposed. These images are intended for the entertainment of adults. But kids are the ones accessing them and so many of these kids have no sense of the consequences of their actions. I think the bigger problem faced by our society is the combination of lackadaisical parenting paired with an appalling lack of accountability.

LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

BF: Poverty. I don’t mean everybody’s rich. But no one on the Third Rock would ever have to choose between eating and heat; food or medicine, ever again.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

BF: Well, you’ve got a point. The fantastic cover that really jumps up off the shelf and says, “Becky buy me; you know you must have me, dahling!” really isn’t necessary in this digital day and age. But a bad cover can still hurt. I’ve seen some really messed up digital covers that have kept me from even looking at a book’s description and The Book Binge blog posts a weekly “WTF Cover” update every Saturday. I wouldn’t want to be on that list.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

BF: I have had stories, characters, little dramas, playing out in my head for as long as I can remember. It was either be a writer or be treated for schizophrenia. 😉  I wrote my first book in kindergarten. I still have it.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

BF: I live so much with the hero and the heroine that by the time I finish with them, they are driving me nuts. They’re like house guests that just won’t go away. And without fail, I am completely enthralled with the supporting cast.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

BF: It’s different every time. Sometimes I see the beginning, other times the middle; could be the end or the whole she-bang. Could be one scene, one conversation; sometimes it’s just an idea that grows into something bigger. That is so disgustingly vague, I’m sorry, but it’s honest.

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

BF: I have an awful habit of bouncing. I’ve been working on the same book for 2 years and while working on that I edited, contracted, revised per an editorial team and published my full length romance Fated Souls. I wrote and edited two novellas, one that I recently contracted, it’ll be out in 2014, and another that is out on submission. I started another novella and wrote the framework for a series. I bounce. But I’m really going to finish the Monster WIP.

LH: I have written and published 6… How many books have you written? How many have been published?

BF: Shit, can you combine this question with the last one? LOL

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?

BF: I’m so glad I don’t write to eat. My poor babies would starve.

LH: Some of my family members had a bit of a problem with me writing my first book “A Beautiful Liar” because the character Maggie West is basically me…to a point 😉 They had a problem with the genre and me “putting it all out there” so to speak so I took a pen name. They eventually came around as I have never cared who knows who I am what I’ve done or what they think of me. I’ve never wanted to be famous, just infamous! What has been your biggest problem when it comes to family or friends when writing?

BF: My mother hates the “filth” as she calls the erotica but is very supportive, nonetheless. It helps that also write sweet romance in addition to steamy. The only other hurdle is finding time amongst the responsibilities of having a full time family and job without my people feeling neglected.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

BF: That’s exactly how I feel! I’m terrified that the one thing I changed would alter something I love about my now and I’d be SCREWED. Mistakes teach us, they form us, even more so than the successes. Nah, I wouldn’t change a thing. Except maybe wearing shoes to my senior prom that were a size and half too small just because they were pretty and not available in my size. Nope, who knows what catastrophic ripple that could cause….and my date had to carry me around like I was princess, it wasn’t all bad.

LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, I’d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrong…If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them.

BF: I’d go back and tell Marilyn Monroe that she was sexy and smart, so stop acting like you aren’t, because any man that likes a dumb ass broad isn’t worth the dick is in drawers and that she didn’t need a man to make her worthwhile anyway; and to get healthy before she killed herself.

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

BF: I’d freaking love it! Oh I’d lose my mind kind of love it. I’d be embarrassed sure, but that would not stop me from screaming and dancing like a fool wherever I was when I found out. There would be fist pumping too, yeah lots of fist pumping in the air. And hiney shaking. I’d tell me fiancé first; my daughters second and my mom third. If I don’t do it in that order, I get in trouble.

Thanks for that fun and frank interview BF…Now… for the fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage?   Captain and Coke

Exercise or Bubble Bath?  BATH

Favorite Color?         Green

Take out or Dine in? Take out

Camping or Hotel?    Hotel

Sports or Chocolate?  Sports

Dogs or Cats?   Dogs

Favorite Food?     Pizza

Favorite Song?  Crazy Bitch by Buckcherry

Favorite Movie?  Armageddon

Favorite Car?   1967 Chevy Impala

Sex or Chocolate? (The answer “Both” is totally acceptable 😉  SEX

And now for the essay part of the interview 😉

LH: If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go, what would you do and who would you take?

BF: I’d like to go to Ireland with my beloved and explore old castles. I know it probably sounds boring but to me that sounds like the most romantic trip ever. No, we are not doing that for our honeymoon because honeymoons are supposed to be nekkid and it’s chilly and rainy in Ireland which does not encourage nudity IMO.

Thanks so much for having me!

Genre:  paranormal romance

Welcome  BKL…I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

BKL: Always a writer, though that didn’t happen until much later in life. Also, a famous singer (which I was really good at… just ask the stuffed animals who attended my concerts) and a fashion designer and a “professional lady of wrestling” and a surfer and a florist and… I was a bit undecided as a kid.

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

BKL: My mother encouraged me to write poetry when I was very young, so she got the ball rolling, but an amazing, older friend of mine took me under his wing and helped me to find myself. We would spend entire nights locked in his tiny apartment, where he’d read to me from books that were WAY over my head, then explain the important parts. He read poetry and we dissected it, I read my stuff to him and he critiqued it… sometimes we just drank and played Rummy all night, arguing whether or not God existed and why writing was so fascinating in the first place. But yeah, he was a huge influence on my obsession with words.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

BKL: Indie.

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

BKL: I love that I can control what I write, where and when I publish, but… I don’t know. Traditional publishing gets your work into places you can’t on your own, and the idea of not having to edit my work over and over until I never want to look at it again is very appealing. I worry about giving up control, having to change things to suit another’s vision of my story. Two sides of the coin, and I can’t decide which side is better. I’m just thrilled to have my work out there at all!

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies!  Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

BKL: Neil Gaiman, and I would not discuss words or books or libraries. We’d talk about his bees, his kids, his wife… That man is fascinating.

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest contributors.  Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Ever feel conflicted and if so, why?

BKL: This is so hard to answer, and is going to make me sound like a hypocrite! I’m not a huge fan of violence on the screen (I am a big baby), but it doesn’t really bother me in books. I write sex and violence, but I think there needs to be a reason for either one. A graphic scene used as filler or shock value just doesn’t work for me. It does seem that we’re permeated with it now, especially on television. I’m not a fan of censorship, though, so my motto is ‘turn the channel, change the station, don’t buy the book, and don’t watch the movie’ but don’t tell someone else they ‘can’t’ (unless it’s your kid, then by all means…).

LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

BKL: I’d like to get rid of this invisible barrier we all seem to think exists between us. Races, nations, religions, sexuality… these things that say nothing about who we really are just keep on falsely defining us and partitioning us off from the rest of the world. We spend more time categorizing, labeling, defining and judging than anything else we do in a lifetime! And it’s all crap- there are no walls between us, as we’re all just human beings. I’ve never understood why the color of skin, a religious belief, a dress size, a musical preference, or even a hair color could make two people enemies. It’s madness!

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

BKL: Ugh! The cover!! To me, it’s not a big issue. However, I admit to being a bit of a ‘cover whore’ and buying books just because I like the front, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been burned for that. It’s like dressing up an evil mastermind in a fairy princess costume- they look harmless, but we’re all still going to die. The story is what matters. I lost a whole star on a review because I didn’t have a great cover, but I can show you seven different books that are using the same basic cover, and their fans eat it up. I’d rather have a simple cover that’s unique than just recycle something already going around. The digital age may change all that, but I think there are just too many readers out there who are stuck on the pretty packaging.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

BKL: I was writing poetry and silly short stories since fifth grade or so, but didn’t really get serious about writing until I was a teenager.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

BKL: The relationships between characters fascinates me. I love to put characters in bizarre situations to see how they will handle themselves and those around them. So much fun to mess with the fictional people!

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

BKL: That is pretty much how it works for me. I get an idea for a scene, or even just a vague idea of an idea, and I let it sit and stew in my head. Then, usually when I’m in the middle of doing something else, the story just starts going and I have to get it on paper. Once I start developing characters, they just rattle around in my head all the time, having conversations with each other or even me. The sisters I’m writing now never shut up!

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

BKL: Book 3 in my series is currently in my head, but I’ve got nothing but notes on the page yet. I promised my family that I’d “take off” for the holidays, but I honestly don’t think I’m going to make it until January without writing. I just can’t shut it off that easily.

LH: I have written and published 6 books… How many books have you written? How many have been published?

BKL: I’ve only written the 2 so far, and both have been published. I have a ton of stories in my head, but I want to finish the series first.

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?

BKL: Writing for a living is the ultimate goal, but not why I write. I have to… and if the only ones who ever read it were my friends and family, I’d still press on. I’d love to be able to write all day instead of work, but for now, I’m not worried about sales. Right now, it’s all about the stories.

BKL: I come from a very conservative family, so I thought long and hard about whether or not to use my real name. In the end, I hoped that they would be proud of me, even if they didn’t approve of the genre I was writing, and used my real name. My mother has a copy of both of my books, but has agreed to never read them!

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

BKL: I didn’t write a thing for almost ten years, but I think that was more fear than anything. I was afraid of trying to write a novel, not just because I didn’t want the rejection, but I was worried that if I failed, I’ve have nothing left. Thinking about writing a book is safe- you haven’t done it yet, so no telling if you’ll succeed or not. Once you take the leap and do it, the safety net disappears and you’re on your own. There are days that I sit down to write and don’t think it’s going to happen, but once I put the pen on the paper, something always happens. Sometimes I have to trash it and start again, but I can always write something.

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

BKL: Just show up and write. Don’t worry if it’s any good or even what might happen later in the story, just stay in the moment and write. Always show up, always try again. And read. Writers who don’t read worry me.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

BKL: I’m with you, I wouldn’t change anything. I’m a scifi fan, so I know my entire life could be altered just from wearing a different outfit in the past. 😉

There are things that I regret or wish had happened differently, but I’m good with the present, and would rather not mess with that.

LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, I’d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrong…If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?

BKL: I lost some good friends long ago, and I think I’d go back and tell them to pay attention. We were just sailing through life without a care, never knowing that it was all going to crash down around us very soon. I wish we would have been more present with each other, enjoyed it all more.

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

BKL: I would freak! First, I’d tell my husband and kids, then the rest of my family and close friends, and then I’d scream it all over facebook. It would be a challenge for me, because I’m not terribly social and I don’t really like being the focus of a lot of attention. I’d go for it, but would probably have daily anxiety attacks!

Thanks for that fun and informative interview BKL…Now… for the fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage?  Coca-Cola classic or Irish Creme (not at the same time!)

Exercise or Bubble Bath? Bubble bath- every time!

Favorite Color? Dark, grayish blues

Take out or Dine in? Take out

Camping or Hotel? Did enough camping growing up, give me a hotel (with a hot tub)

Sports or Chocolate? Chocolate (unless the Broncos are playing, then both)

Dogs or Cats? I’m a cat person, but I do have one dog that I adore and spoil rotten

Favorite Food? A really good steak, preferably grilled

Favorite Song? Bells For Her by Tori Amos

Favorite Movie? The Princess Bride

Favorite Car? Soft top VW bug- the old kind, not the new ones

Sex or Chocolate? Yes!!

And now for the essay part of the interview 😉

LH: If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go, what would you do and who would you take?

BKL: I would run away with the Doctor in his Tardis. (This doesn’t have to be plausible, right?) Since I was fairly young, I’ve watched Doctor Who and dreamed of all the places he would take me, all the strange sights we’d see. I’d let him decide the agenda, since I have no real grasp of the universe and its various tourist attractions.

I would probably let my husband come along, just so he didn’t get his feelings hurt or anything, as well as Mr. Gaiman (because that one dinner just wouldn’t be enough). We’d also need some kind of entertainment, so I’d bring along Etta James. We’d have a time machine, so dropping by to pick her up shouldn’t be a problem. Oh, and maybe an Iron Chef or two, because I imagine that time traveling can make you pretty hungry.

Welcome  MH…I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

MH: Hmm, tough question! Well at first I wanted to be a vet, but as I grew up I discovered how smart you had to be. Then I wanted to be an FBI agent, until I realized that first off, you had to be American and secondly, again you had to be smart!! Finally as a teenager, I decided I wanted to change the world, so I became an early childhood teacher. 🙂

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

MH: Actually, buying a Kindle opened my eyes to the possibility. I have always wanted to write but had no idea where to start. Seeing self published, amazing authors coming through via Amazon, inspired me to give it a go, so I did!

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

MH: I hunted and hunted to find a publisher after I self published my first book. I decided that I needed some expert support to set myself up properly. I’d say about 9/10’s of the challenge is knowing how to market your book. Finding Eternal Press and getting the support from them and the experienced authors in the group has been a huge support for me.

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies! Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

MH: Err, I’d possibly invite Channing Tatum and not discuss his wife (lol).

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest contributors.  Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Ever feel conflicted and if so, why?

MH: I think the shock factor always seems to get people talking and that is what Hollywood and the media use to drive sales. Of course, the more we see the shocking events, the more immune we become to them so the ‘more’ shocking the events become. I come from well grounded family. We are open to new ideas and situations but always have robust conversations about what is fair and just. I want my children to grow up aware of the world around them and be active contributors to it but with the intention of making a positive impact on their world. That is my ultimate dream for them.

LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

MH: Myself. I found this amazing quote and I think it is so valid. “Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” Rumi

Image what place the world would be if we all thought that way instead of trying to change others J

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

MH: Actually when I scour shelves for books via Amazon, I do look at the covers. For example the book Wallbanger, by Alice Clayton. I saw that book on the bestsellers list forever BUT I hated the cover. Finally, after seeing review after review, I bought it and loved it. So, I guess it is still important, not everything, but still an important part of the marketing.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

MH: Yes I have. I spent many a New Year making a promise (to myself) to get published. Twenty years later, here I am! I did write some articles for parenting magazines when I had my children which gave me a taste for success. I was pretty pleased when those were published but writing a novel has always been my dream.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

MH: Truthfully? The romance. If it feels genuine, and you can see the emotions driving the story, then I fall into it. I am pretty easy to please, really J

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

MH: I come up with a concept but it seems to me the story evolves as the characters take on personalities of their own. I wish I could see the bigger picture before I start but truthfully I start with just the bare bones and the story just seems to grow and grow.

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

MH: Yup, I have written a romantic comedy which I am tweaking. It is about an American/ Italian family who plan a yearlong wedding in Bologna Italy. It has me laughing out loud but I have to make sure I can transfer that so that others get it too 🙂

LH: I have written and published 6 books… How many books have you written? How many have been published?

MH: I have written 3, working on the 4th with my cousin and have published 2! It’s been a busy year at the Homer household.

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?

MH: Firstly fun but if I could make money, I’d be a happy camper too. What I love most right now however, is hearing feedback on what I have written. Even the tough critique gets me thinking on how I could do it better.

MH: I had the exact same problem as you! My first book, Treading Water, is very loosely based on me. The story that develops has nothing to do with my family at all, but I originated the initial concept from experience. I know that my family have found that tough and take it personally. I am glad I wrote the story as it broke my fear of completing a novel but it did cause some uncomfortable moments…

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

MH: Yes I have. I have written a thousand starts to books and stopped. I guess this is because unlike you, I start with a concept that I develop, whereas you (lucky you) have the whole story mapped out from the start. I get over it by a) throwing away the story or b) sucking it up and working out how I can move forward. My cousin is a great help when I get stuck!!

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

MH: Yes, give it a go! It does take some guts to ‘put yourself out there’ but until you do, you’ll have no idea if you can do it. Oh and expect the rejection letters, they WILL happen but keep trying to learn from them and keep giving it a go.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

MH: I totally agree with you. I love my life, even the crappy moments have helped me to grow into the person I am now. I feel truly blessed with all I have and all I am. I know I still want to grow and develop but I love living and learning. I would change nothing!

LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, I’d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrong…If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?

MH: I’d go back and tell my Granddad who died a few years ago that he is the one person in my life who I will always remember, love and talk about. He was my inspiration and I miss him every day.

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

MH: I would completely flip out too and the first person I’d call would be my husband J Then my cousin Amanda, who loves reading my work.

Today’s Tease…Adam Knight

Welcome! Pull up a seat and enjoy a chat with Today’s Tease Adam Knight

Your Name:  Adam Knight (Occassionally “Outlaw” Adam Knight)

Profession: Pro Wrestler, Independent Author, Stuntman, Publice Speaker, Smart-Ass

Name of your company: Knightfall Productions Inc

Links to where we can find you:
Twitter – @OutlawAK

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

AK: An astronaut originally. All things space, fantastical and other worldly have always interested me. Then a Superhero. And then a cowboy.

Now as a Pro Wrestler I tend to be kinda super-heroic in the ring, plus wearing the leather and the hat satisfies the Western idea.

LH: I can remember wanting to be a movie star when I was a little girl, but alas…How did you get into this business?

AK: Writing? Well, I’ve been doing that my whole life. Once you get past the physicality needed in my ringside job, most of what I do there is storytelling as well.
That said, I sort of stumbled into both fields. I was failing at life (#University) as a young man and somewhat directionless when I got involved in the local (#Winnipeg) wrestling circuit. now, 19 years later, i’m still kicking ass and taking names.
As far as trying to show people my written work, it’s only been in the last year that I’ve felt confident enough in the self-publishing industry to even tippy-toe my way into it. So far, it’s been incredibly rewarding.

LH: I’ve heard that modeling/acting/show business is stressful and demanding. How doyou handle the pressure?

AK:I work out and swear a lot.

LH: I detest having my picture taken! What’s the toughest part of getting models/actors to do what you want them to do?

AK: Getting fools to put their egos aside and understand the the entire event / show is about pleasing the paying audience and NOT satisfying their need to feel popular or famous. Once you’ve beaten that into a few skulls, the word tends to trickle down.

LH: I write books and can be found all over the web…Give me a list of your favorite accomplishments.

AK: Nearly 1500 matches as a professional wrestler in Canada, the USA and Japan since 1995.
Best Actor – University of Winnipeg Film Group for “Haven” 2009
Completed and self-published 2 Novels and one novella so far (Check the links peeps).
Debuting in Japan in 2010 for SMASH Pro Wrestling.
So many more …

LH: I’m working on a secret project…Do you have any upcoming projects that you’d care to share?

AK: “Outlaw Justice” – Overdrive Book 2 is a bit behind schedule for it’s Dec 2013 e-Release, but I plan to be as close as possible to XMas to release!
LH: I LOVE to shoot pool to unwind and relieve stress. What do you do to wind down?
AK: Gym. Read. Relax with old friends. And – like any good Canadian boy, watch some hockey.

LH: A long those lines…When I was very young, I worked in the Special Events department at Caesars Tahoe and got to stay after a billiards tournament with Willie Mosconi and Minnesota Fats to knock around a few balls. It was one of my favorite memories from my time there. What is your favorite celebrity story?

AK: When I was just getting started in wrestling I was also just getting started in film work. There was a “TV Movie of The Week” being shot in town and Sean Patrick Flannery (The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, The Boondock Saints) was the star. Anyways, I thought it was hilarious just how much bigger than him I was. And apparently so did he. When we were between takes, he and the others actors were talking about “Turning this into a barroom brawl” and Sean took one look at me and said “I got him, the rest of you guys are on your own.” Good dude.

LH: I have always wanted to start a charity for terminally ill adults. Is there something special that you’ve always wanted to do?

AK: End spousal abuse. Full stop.

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and that Hollywood is one of the biggest contributors. It’s kind of ironic that we’re in the business of selling sex and/or violence. Ever feel conflicted and if so why?

AK: I did until I started to believe the people who told me that it was okay to be seen as an object worthy of sex thoughts. It doesn’t happen often, but through 18 years of pro wrestling its hard to avoid a few naughty comments from fans now and again. Whether wrestling, writing or acting I am in the entertainment business and selling an idea to people – if it turns them on, I’m cool with that. When it becomes vulgar, exploitative or abusive is when i take umbrage.

LH: It’s guilty pleasure time! Mine is Grey’s Anatomy. I get mad when the season ends, can’t wait for the new season to begin, will be devastated beyond imagination when it ends and find myself crying at some point in nearly every episode! What one television show is your “guilty pleasure”?

AK: I watch too much TV and am cool with the quality of most shows I enjoy. Though if I had to pick one, it’d probably be “Supernatural.” I avoided it like the plague for years, believing it to be “THe X-Files for teen aged girls”. Turns out I was right, but once I got past that the rock and roll tunes, the humor and the solid storytelling hooked me.

LH: I have things I want the world to know so I write books…Is there anything else you’d like the world to know?

AK: I think the fact that I write at all is scary. It’s completely baring my inner most thoughts and committing them to paper (er, digital bits and bytes) and leaving them out there for people to enjoy / scorn. So please, if you like my work – be vocal, it’s good for my self confidence. If you DON’T like my work – this is a time for quiet inner hatred.

Thanks for that fun and informative interview AK…Now… for the fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage? – Whisky and Mexican Magic (aka-Corona)

Airplane or Cruise ship? -Airplane. I spend enough time travelling from place to place. Cruise would be nice, but I’d rather get where I’m going.

Favorite Fruit? – Grapes. LOVE grapes.

Meat & Potatoes or Fruits and Veggies? – What, i can’t have it all? I’m a big dude and I eat a ton.

Exercise or Bubble Bath? – Exercise. I am WAY too big for most bathtubs.

Favorite Color? – Blue

Take out or Dine in? – Depends on the day. But take out’s good for giving me more home time with the family, my dogs and watching the game on my big screen TV.

Camping or Hotel? – HOTEL.

Sports or Chocolate? – Sports. I mean, I love chocolate, but I’ll have earned it after playing my sports. You know?

Dogs or Cats? – 2 Dogs. Adorable little fur balls.

Favorite Food? – Burgers.

Favorite Song? – “Sleep When I’m Dead” – Bon Jovi

Favorite Movie? – “Star Wars”

Favorite Car? – I’d kinda like a DeLorean.

Sex or Chocolate? (The answer “Both” is totally acceptable 😉 – (Quirks an eyebrow mysteriously and refuses to answer while smirking slightly.)

Genre:  romantic suspense

Welcome  MG…I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

MG: When I grew up I wanted to be a teacher – which is what I am by day.

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

MG: There was no one author I can pinpoint as being a literary influence in my writing career, but I’ve always been an avid reader. When I was younger I also used to act out stories with my Barbie dolls. When I was in junior high school I began writing those stories down.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

MG: I am an Indie author. I tried the traditional route with no success, so I tried out the Indie route where I found success and feel more in control of my own work.

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

MG: As an Indie author if I was offered a publishing deal I might consider it. I think after two years as an Indie author I would be cautious about giving up so much control of my work, but on the flip side I might be able to learn more about the industry and get some help in the areas I know I am lacking – such as marketing.

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies!  Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

MG: I think I would invite all of the authors that I love to read and I would not discuss any of their work – or mine. It would just be a free flowing dinner and discussion.

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest contributors.  Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Ever feel conflicted and if so, why?

MG: I do agree that there is too much sex and violence nowadays, but I don’t think I’m overly concerned by it…it’s the trend at the moment and might not last. In my own writing I do not feel conflicted as I do not use excessive sex. As for violence, it kind of comes with the territory of the suspense aspect of romantic suspense.

LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

MG: The one thing I would change in the blink of an eye, if I could, would be how people treat each other.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

MG: I still think the cover is important even with online purchasing. When I purchase a book online, the cover is still the first thing I look at before going to the book description.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

MG: I started writing when I was in 7th grade, but it was mostly just for myself. In college I began writing what is now called flash fiction and fan fiction. Then I moved onto my own stories and publication.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

MG: Character development is one of my favorite aspects of a story. I love reading series books for this reason and now find myself doing the same thing so I can see my characters grow and change.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

MG: I read a lot. I watch TV. The stories just kind of appear and I go with it.

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

MG: I am working on the final installment of my romantic suspense trilogy as well as a short story collection.

LH: I’m working on #6…5 are published and the last is due out this year… How many books have you written? How many have been published?

MG: I’ve written two books so far and both are currently published.

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?

MG: I write for passion and fun. I have to write. The characters need to tell their story.

MG: I have not had any problems with my family or friends when it’s come to my writing, the genre of my writing or using my real name. My family in particular has been very supportive of my writing.

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

MG: Unfortunately I have experienced writer’s block and it lasted for a good couple of years. I had to eventually change my writing habits when they stopped working for me.

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

MG: Just write. And keep writing. And take the chance to put your work out there and follow your dreams. It’s scary, but it’s scary in a good way.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

MG: I really wouldn’t change anything. Sure, there are things about my life I don’t like having happened, but it’s my life and I wouldn’t change any of it because that would mean changing who I am.

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

MG: If any of my books were to be made into a movie the first person I would tell would be my fiance and then my mother. I’m not sure how I would handle it, but I am not always big on being the center of attention. I’m sure it would be overwhelming but so very exciting!!

Thanks for that fun and interesting interview MG…Now… for the fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage? Fruity juices – mostly the ones that are not all that good for you!!

Exercise or Bubble Bath? Bubble bath

Favorite Color? blue

Take out or Dine in? take out

Camping or Hotel? hotel

Sports or Chocolate? chocolate

Dogs or Cats? Both!!!

Favorite Food? Ice cream

Favorite Song? Right now – Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke

Favorite Movie? Coyote Ugly

Favorite Car? My 2013 Prius

Sex or Chocolate? (The answer “Both” is totally acceptable 😉 Both!!

And now for the essay part of the interview 😉

LH: If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go, what would you do and who would you take?

MG: If I could go anywhere for a week, with anyone I wanted and no one would ever find out about it, I would go back to Rome, Italy with my fiance and we would explore every nook and cranny of the city.

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?
SS: Thank you for having me Leanna. When I was younger I wanted to be a singer/song writer and an author.
LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?
SS: I really like books. R.L Stine was my influence.
LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?
SS: I self published my first book.
LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?
SS: I wouldn’t mind being published by a traditional publisher because I think it a way it would be easier.
LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies! Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?
SS: I would invite Ian Somerholder and I would not discuss movies.
LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest contributors. Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Ever feel conflicted and if so, why?
SS: Yes there is to much sex and violence in the world, I’m nor concerned, concerned, but if it gets worse I will be concerned.
LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?
SS: If I could change one thing in the world, I would make sure nobody goes hungry.
LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?
SS: Well to be honest, when I look at a book I look at the cover first and if I like the cover I will read the back. If the back is good I would buy it. But well written books are the best no matter if you but them on line or a book store.
LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?
SS: When I was a kid I always liked to write, it was my favorite and it still is. I started writing when I was 12.
LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story? SS: I picture myself as the characters and get a sense of how the feel and what they are going through.
LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?
SS: For me, I’ll just be sitting there and a bunch of ideas will hit me out of the blue and then I start writing.
LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?
SS: I’m currently working on a book, it’s a lot different then what I normally write.
LH: I’m working on #6…5 are published and the other is due out this year… How many books have you written? How many have been published?
SS: I’ve written 13 books and only have 1 published so far.
LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?
SS: I write for fun because it’s something I enjoy doing.
SS: The only problem I’ve had is most of my family didn’t see the point of me writing. They didn’t think I would get any ware. But now that I have my first book published they are still a little indifferent. My mom and dad always supported me, well mostly my dad.
LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?
SS: I just keep writing.
LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?
SS: My advice for new writers would be, if this is something you love to do, keep doing it, you will get somewhere.
bI would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?
SS: I wouldn’t change any thing.
LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?
SS: I would probably faint or something like that, I’m a shy person and would probably fumble over my words, I’m not good with talking. The first person I would tell would most likely be my twin brother.

Thanks for that fun and frank interview SS…Now… for the fun stuff!
