Genre:  Erotica

Welcome ED…I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

ED: I’ve always wanted to be an author. I don’t know why, but I didn’t understand that an author was something that you could be until I read Anne Rice’s Interview with a Vampire and looked at the back cover with the picture of her on it. I guess I thought, “Hey, this lady wrote this. People write books! I wanna write a book!”

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

ED: I was one of those kids that is sad that the library had a 99 book check-out limit. In other words, I read  a lot. So my influences come from everywhere!

Anne Rice, Henry Miller, Tanis Lee, and Anais Nin are responsible for my interest in the erotic. I’ve been told that my non-erotic writings remind people of Jhumpa Lahiri.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

ED: I’m an indie author.

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

ED: I don’t think I’d have problems being published, but I’m also not searching for it. I think many people shy away from indie publishing because they want that official mark of recognition that they are awesome at writing. I’m not really looking for that. I’m lucky enough that I’ve already gotten that kind of approval in other arenas. For me, traditional publishing would be all about getting help to put my work out there.

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies! Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

ED: You know, my answer as a little kid was Martin Luther King Jr., but now I’d either invite Zadie Smith or Nicki Minaj, or both. Wouldn’t that be a crazy dinner party? I wouldn’t talk about music or books.

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest offenders.   Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Which form of media do you think is the worst offender?

ED: As an erotica author, it would be kind of weird for me to say there’s too much sex, wouldn’t it? I think the way that we, particularly Americans, deal with sex is problematic and nearly schizophrenic. The message of prudish, abstinence-only, pure sexuality is pushed at the same time as companies make bikinis for infants and tell young children they must be sexy. Rape culture is reinforced on an everyday basis. My problem is not with the quantity of sexual things we encounter, but with the content and message behind them.

Oh, and don’t get me started on violence. We’d be here all day.

LH: I’m a huge softie and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

ED: Eliminate economic inequality. I think that’s actually the first building block for world peace, and it’s totally something achievable. Nations that have low economic inequality nearly always have low rates of violence and high rates of all that cool stuff like happiness and education.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

ED: I’m a pretty visual person, so I still love covers! Seriously, the current digital culture is an increasingly visual one, so it’s not surprising that they would become more important than they already were.

Covers catch my eye, get me intrigued. I hate to say it, but I’m guilty of judging books by their covers. Design is important!

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

ED: Like I said earlier, I’ve always wanted to be an author. I remember starting to write when I was ten or so, and hiding the pages away under my clothes so that no one could find them! I was so embarrassed. It took me a while before I got confident enough to show anyone what I wrote.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

ED: I’m all about prose and originality. All of my favorite books are beautifully written with unique points of view. Characters and plots are cool, but I really read to see something that I’ve never seen before.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

ED: I normally start from an idea. It could be a word, an image, anything like that. Then the story grows around it. I used to be a pantser, flying totally blind into writing, but I’ve learned the joys of outlines since then. Still, my favorite part of writing is when my own story surprises me.

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

ED: I’m working on a Femdom story that turns the whole billionaire dom idea on it’s head. The world has enough billionaire alphas, don’t you think? I’m always rooting for a strong female character.

LH: I’m working on #7…5 are published and the next is due out this year… How many books have you written? How many have been published?

ED: I’ve only written and published 2 erotica books so far! I’m a newbie!

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?

ED: I won’t lie, I write for both! Writers have got to eat too! Writing has always been my job, and I’m not really sure I’m qualified to do anything else anymore. So I’d love to make a living off of erotic writing, but it’s also tons of fun.

LH: Some of my family members had a bit of a problem with me writing my first book “A Beautiful Liar” because the character Maggie West is basically me…to a point 😉 They had a problem with the genre and me “putting it all out there” so to speak so I took a pen name. They eventually came around as I have never cared who knows who I am what I’ve done or what they think of me. I’ve never wanted to be famous, just infamous! What has been your biggest problem when it comes to family or friends when writing?

ED: My family would not approve of me writing erotica. Let’s just say it’s our little secret, okay?

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

ED: Writer’s block isn’t my problem, perfectionism is my problem. This is actually my favorite part of writing erotica, because it’s teaching me how to deliver. It really kicks my butt and makes me push stories out into the world.

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

ED: Just write. Don’t worry about how much you suck, or what anyone will say, or if it’s a waste of time. You probably do suck (but that’s what editing is for), ignore the haters, and writing is good for your soul so it’s never a waste of time.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

ED: Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like if I took my fancy pants degrees and got a traditional fancy pants job. But then I think, I wouldn’t be me! Who needs fancy pants?

LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, I’d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrong…If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?

ED: Come on Leanna, everyone knows that you can’t disturb the past because it will cause inconsistencies in the time stream!

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

ED: I would probably jump up and down and scream. That’s my default reaction to anything awesome that happens to me. I’d definitely tell my husband first. I’m really shy, but they don’t need me to be in the movie so I think I’d be fine.

Thank you for a very smart and funny interview ED!…Now… for the fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage? Gin and Tonic

Exercise or Bubble Bath? Bubble Bath, hands down

Favorite Color? Grey

Take out or Dine in? Dine in

Camping or Hotel? Hotel (Camping, what’s that?)

Sports or Chocolate? Chocolate. I am the worst at knowing anything about sports.

Dogs or Cats? Cats, maybe? I’m not a big pet person. Does that make me horrible?

Favorite Food? Yasai Tempura (Lightly fried Japanese veggies)

Favorite Song? “Venus as a Boy” by Bjork

Favorite Movie? Dreams by Kurosawa

Favorite Car? Um…I know nothing about cars except they have wheels and take me places.

Sex or Chocolate? (The answer “Both” is totally acceptable 😉 Sex

And now for the essay part of the interview 😉

LH: If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go, what would you do and who would you take?

ED: I’d go to the Sundarbans, which is the largest single block of tidal halophytic mangrove forest in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site straddling Bangladesh and Bengal. I’d love to meet the fishermen and other people who live there, and to see the unique animals. And hopefully not get eaten by Bengal tigers. I’d take my husband because I’m a big softie and I kind of like him.

Thanks for having me!

Today’s Tease…Kristy Brown

Welcome! Pull up a seat and enjoy a chat with Today’s Tease Kristy Brown

Your Name or Pen Name you use:  Kristy Brown, K.R.Brown

Title of the book you are promoting:  Twisted Fate

Link to purchase your Book:  http://www.amazon.com/Twisted-Fate-Series-Volume/dp/1491237783/ref=tmm_pap_title_0

Genre:  Paranormal Romance

Welcome  KB…I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

KB: As a child I wanted to be a lawyer, but that changed when I started school.  I then wanted to be a writer.

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

KB: I have had so many influences through the years.  The ones that really made me decide to go toward Paranormal Romance were Cheyenne McCray, Christina Dodd.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

KB: I am a Indie author at the moment, but my hope is to be “discovered”.

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

KB: I would and dream to be with a traditional publisher, the reasons are because they can give you outlets that you can’t get with being Indie. Such as giving you help to promote your books.  They can get your book into book stores, when you are Indie it isn’t that easy.

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies!  Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

KB: So many choices for this one.  I think I would have to go with Joe Manganiello.  Like you said I wouldn’t be talking about movies.

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest contributors.  Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Ever feel conflicted and if so, why?

KB: I believe that sex and violence are ingrained with our world. It is becoming so common place that you can see a naked woman on normal TV.  It worries me because I have children, I don’t want them to see the way the world is turning to sex and violence all the time.  The image on the TV is what our children grow up to be.  I don’t want either of my children to feel they have to be stick thin.

LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

KB: Poverty, I would want to find a way to help people live better lives.  Having no money to live on makes things so much harder.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

KB: I think that a great book cover can bring in many readers, but with that said I also believe that you have to have a great story as well.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

KB: I started when I was in middle school around the age of 10.  Have always loved to write.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

KB: Being able to see the characters in my mind.  When they decide to make it a movie I can say I can see that person playing that character.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

KB: I am pretty much the same way.  I don’t do an outline or anything.  I do keep track of my characters though hahaha

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

KB: Yes I am, I am writing the 3rd book to my twisted fate series.  Then in November I do NaNoWriMo.

LH: I’m working on #6…5 are published and the other one is due out this year… How many books have you written? How many have been published?

KB: I have written 5 only 1 is published at this moment.

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?

KB: A little of both, I love that I can write something that people will love to read.  At the same time I like money.

KB: None, they are all very supportive of what I am doing. 🙂

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

KB: Not really block, it is more I am not too sure how the movie in my head will go. So I have to let it roll in my mind to see what way I want.

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

KB: Don’t let reviews keep you from being who you are.  No matter what you write be true to your story.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

KB: Hmm this is a hard one.  If I could go back I think I would work out more.  Tell myself to be better at the things I know I can do.

LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, I’d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrong…If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?

KB: Another hard one, I think I would go back and find the person who invented cigarettes and tell him not to. Tell him that by just that one invention he was pretty much the reason for thousands of deaths.

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

KB: First I would blush to the roots of my hair.  Second I would be jumping up and down screaming about how happy I was.  It is a dream to have a book made into a show but it isn’t a deal breaker in my life.  I would tell my husband J

Thanks for that fun and interesting interview KB…Now… for the fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage? Cherry Coke

Exercise or Bubble Bath? Bubble Bath

Favorite Color? Red

Take out or Dine in? Dine In

Camping or Hotel? Hotel

Sports or Chocolate? Chocolate
Dogs or Cats? Both!

Favorite Food? Chicken Broccoli Alfredo

Favorite Song? Don’t really have A song.

Favorite Movie? Rose Red

Favorite Car? Mini Van 🙂

Sex or Chocolate? Both!

And now for the essay part of the interview 😉

LH: If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go, what would you do and who would you take?

KB: This one is easy for me, I would go to Ireland.  I have a calling to go overseas and see the amazing things there. I would bring my husband, who I have been with for almost fifteen years.  The journey would be a great vacation.  We would hop from place to place seeing the standing stones, and the fields of green.

I love to take photos so I would need to have a hard drive for use this vacation.  After Ireland we would go to Scotland.  I would find the people that I have meet online and connect with them.  To see the world in this way would be a dream come true.  We would then go to Cairo to see the pyramids. Connect with the past in a way I can’t here in the US.

Welcome! Pull up a seat and enjoy a chat with Today’s Tease Katherine Russell

Recent Publication: Love Around the World (series)

Publisher: Senserial Publishers

Genre: Travel Romance

Welcome  KR…I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing.  Who influenced you in your writing career?

KR: My first influence was my aunt, Margot Russell, who published a collection of stories about life with multiple sclerosis. She knew I was writing constantly from the time I could hold a pen – it was in my blood. When I was eleven, she asked me, “Are you ready to write your book?” With her encouragement, I compiled stories by and about people living with cystic fibrosis called With Every Breath, though it took several years to publish! As for my fiction, it’s heavily influenced and inspired by authors with lyrical style like Arundhati Roy, Edwidge Danticat, and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher.  Are you an Indie or published author?

KR: I self-published my poetry book because I wanted full control over its production and promotion. With the book With Every Breath, I was sponsored by Boomer Esiason Foundation to self-publish, but that was before Amazon made it so easy! As for my novel, Without Shame, I’m currently seeking out a traditional publisher.

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest offenders.   Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Which form of media do you think is the worst offender?

KR: Agreed! What confuses me, though, is a TV-show can’t say a curse word or show a naked body, but it can graphically show a human getting his head bashed in (ahem, The Walking Dead). At the same time, we sexualize nearly every advertisement, assigning gender expectations through a camera lens. It has fostered a very insecure nation – men who think they have to always be chasing sex, and women who think if they’re not being chased there’s something wrong with them. I’d like to write a whole book on our media’s confused approach to the human body. We’re pretty twisted.

LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen I truly would have world peace in the blink of an eye.                          If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

KR: I’d bring Twinkies back. Kidding. I think I’d ask for more selfless leaders. Power attracts the ruthless and greedy. If leaders put their people before themselves, we wouldn’t have situations like famine in North Korea or hundreds of miners dying in China every day.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”.  How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

KR: I think there are more important things about a book and its promotion, for sure. But I do think there’s something to be said for an eye-catching cover! Nowadays, instead of browsing the spines of books in a store and pulling one from the shelf to read the back cover, people are quickly scrolling through their browser and maybe only catching a glimpse of your title in a millisecond. You want that millisecond to count, catch their eye instantly. The market is just inundated, and people don’t have a lot else to go on when browsing. If a cover looks cheap, they might assume the writing is cheap. If it looks interesting, they might go as far as reading the description of your book. By the way, Leanna, your covers are killer!

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol  Are you working on anything now?

KR: I’m working on getting an agent for Without Shame, which is a novel about an American who comes to teach in pre-independent Bangladesh, and he meets a Bengali woman who is waiting for a revolution. I’ve also started a collection of flash fiction pieces about survival and our coping mechanisms. It’s called The Magic of Healing.

LH: I’m working on #6…3 are published and the other 3 are due out this year.  How many books have you written? How many have been published?

KR: I was asked to write a romance novel for a start-up publisher called Senserial Publishers. It’s an episodic travel romance called Love Around the World. Things I’ve self-published are my books about life with cystic fibrosis: With Every Breath, and my poetry collection on coming of age with chronic illness, Shapes of Water. Then I’ve written Without Shame, which hopefully in the near future will be published!

LH: I have never experienced it. I have experienced writers “don’t want to”…Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

KR: Not often, but when I do, I read about something interesting. It stimulates me to think and learn something new – something I might be able to write about! I try to make writing a daily habit instead of relying on the “ahah!” moments. Sometimes beating writer’s block is merely a matter of sitting down and forcing myself to write something.

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”…Do you?

KR: My advice is to read as much as you can. See what is being published and learn from what those writers have to offer.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did…

If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

KR: I’m too afraid to mess with the past. Learned that from The Butterfly Effect. But really, like you seem to do, I always try to remember that both good and bad things have shaped me into who I am today, so if I can accept and love myself, there’s no regretting the past.

KR…you are not only funny, you are an inspiration!…Now… for the fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage? Chai

Exercise or Bubble Bath? Bubble Bath!

Favorite Color? Daffodil Yellow

Sports or Chocolate? Chocolate

Dogs or Cats? Dogs – I have a Bichon Poodle

Favorite Food? Ethiopian (seriously, I eat it about once a week)

Favorite Song? Chopin Opus 9/Nocturne 1 – also, Electric Feel by MGMT

Favorite Movie? Ratatouille – it just makes me feel good!

Favorite Car? Jeep, not that I can afford any car at this juncture

Sex or Chocolate? (The answer “Both” is totally acceptable 😉 Sex, but I’m not opposed to chocolate being incorporated

And now for the essay part of the interview 😉

If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go and who would you take?

KR: I’ve always dreamed of Costa Rica, and I’d take the love of my life with me. It would be a huge benefit if his boss didn’t find out he missed a week of work. (To paint a fuller picture: my boyfriend is a first-year accountant with very long hours!). I’d go to see the sea turtles hatch and make their way back into the ocean.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

SS: I do my own covers so I hope it’s all good.

Personally I go by the sample read.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

SS: I started writing short stories on a blog two years ago and I have always wanted to write

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

SS: I like feisty women and men that know how to handle them.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

SS: I stay motivated, I can’t keep up with all of my ideas.

I have a very vivid imagination.

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

SS: I’m always working on something..

LH: I’m working on #6…3 are published and the other 3 are due out this year… How many books have you written? How many have been published?

SS: 21 published e-books on Amazon

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?

SS: Both but I have to write to stay sane.

SS: I write under a pen name and if it blows up like 50 shades did then I will say, “To heck with it.”

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

SS: No, I stay motivated..

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

SS: Do it for the love of the art first and foremost.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

SS: I honestly don’t think that I would change anything because it has made me who I am today.

LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, I’d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrong…If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?

SS: I would probably tell society as a whole about the internet but who would believe that technology would advance to the point that it has?

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

SS: No, I am used to dealing with the public so it wouldn’t bother me, I would just do more philanthropy work…

Thank you for that interesting interview SS…Now… for the fun stuff!

Genre: Paranormal Regency Romance and Historical Paranormal Romance, Fantasy Romance and some religious and poetry

Welcome LHG….I, LH have some questions for you!

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

LHG: First I wanted to sing.  I love singing and making up songs but I got married.  After my divorce I wanted to run away and become Indiana Jones on my last crusade. It wasn’t in the cards even though I studied Anthropology and Archaeology.  I found I wasn’t up to it physically.  I went back to school to teach and get my Master’s degree in Secondary Education in English Language Arts but after teaching I found I hated it.  I started writing.

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing.  Who influenced you in your writing career?

LHG: There was no literary influence just love. My daughter was my biggest influence although all my children encouraged me.  I think it really dawned on me that I could do it when I got published.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

LHG: Published but I have recently published some on my own.

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company.  If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies!  Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

LHG: I would invite Paul to dinner and not discuss Jesus but I would ask what he thought about Peter staying in Jerusalem and not trying to convert the world? Did he think he was lazy or scared?

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest offenders.  Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Which form of media do you think is the worst offender?

LHG: Yes, there is too much but the worst offender to me is the violence.  I don’t see why they make movies about people chopping people up or shooting everyone to pieces.  I find that violence begets violence.  I had rather make love and not war.  I would like to see the entertainment industry take a stand against violence and killing. It would not hurt to have a few moral values promoted.

LH: I’m a huge softie and by no means a beauty queen I truly would have world peace in the blink of an eye. If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

LHG: Peace, yes, world peace, harmony and love would be wonderful.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

LHG: The cover catches the eye but the promotion is in the words.  What is your book about? The cover picture could be all wrong and the caption would be what captures the reader’s eye.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

LHG: Oh, I wanted to sing.  First I wanted to write songs and then poetry.  I have always had an imagination and could tell some whoppers but did not think to put them on paper until my daughter suggested it.  Yes, it was too late in life.  I should have done this years ago.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

LHG: My stories kind of unfold as I write. It is like my characters take me on a trip and it is usually where I never thought I would go. Lol

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol   Are you working on anything now?

LHG: A Highlander Christmas Story and Morovani, the Guardian Angel

LH: I’m working on #6…3 are published and the other 3 are due out this year. How many books have you written? How many have been published?

LHG: I have written a dozen but these two with Eternal Press are my favorite babies.  Five were published and the rest I have published myself.

LH: I write for fun. Do you write for fun or money?

LHG: Oh, for fun as I know you must. It has to be something you love because you work your heart out on these books and with no reward except your own gratification.  If you didn’t love to do it, you would not start.

LH: I have never experienced it. I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

LHG: It is like a new recipe. You must have a hunger for something you want.  It takes on a life of its own.  I just alter my recipe.  Maybe take the sugar or cream and add some nutmeg or a little more salt.  It takes a little time to adjust and then you are off and cooking again, or writing. Yum!

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

LHG: Yes, read what you want to write and study other genres besides your own. You can always use a wider base for your stories.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

LHG: I would never marry my first husband.  I would have run away when I saw him coming.  I would have married that boy I went with all through high school.  He was my true love, my Jerry. I would have cherished him forever.

You have been an AWESOME guest LHG….Now…Let’s have some FUN!

Favorite Beverage?  Diet Dr. Peppers and sweet tea

Exercise or Bubble Bath? Perfumed Bubble bath

Favorite Color? Red, Red, Red

Sports or Chocolate? Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate

Dogs or Cats? Pekingese and Parrot

Favorite Food? Tomatoes

Favorite Song? Little Things Mean A Lot

Favorite Movie?  Gone With the Wind

Sex or Chocolate? (The answer “Both” is totally acceptable 😉 Both, Both, Both

Now, for the essay part of the interview…

If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go and who would you take?

LHG: To Rome, Italy with Gerard Butler, I would have to take handcuffs and a blindfold. Hehehe

Thank you so much for spending time with us today and make sure get your copy of …

Today’s Tease…The lovely and Talented Dina Rae!

Welcome! Pull up a seat and enjoy a chat with Today’s Tease…The lovely and Talented Dina Rae!

Name or Pen Name you use: Dina Rae

Title of the book you are promoting: Halo of the Nephilim

Link to purchase your Book: Will be published on May 1st.  Here is the link for Halo of the Damned: http://www.amazon.com/Halo-of-the-Damned-ebook/dp/B0075XQYDM/ref=sr_1_1_bnp_1_kin?ie=UTF8&qid=1366574700&sr=8-1&keywords=halo+of+the+damned

Genre:  Horror, PNR

Welcome DR….I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

DR: A professional tennis player.  But my parents didn’t have any money for anything, let alone lessons.  I love to play and belong to an indoor club that I joined as a young adult.

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing.  Who influenced you in your writing career?

DR: I love nonfiction, but can never remember the author names.  I also love King, Dan Brown, Rice, Childs, Preston, Rosenberg, LaHaye, Jenkins, George RR Martin, and am getting into Deborah Harkness.  I love to read any genre, but really love a story with a lot of research. I want to walk away from a book and learn something that I didn’t know before.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher.  Are you an Indie or published author?

DR: I am both-The Last Degree was my first book and was published by an unscrupulous publisher who never paid me along with breaking all kinds of promises.  I canceled the contract and figured out how to put it up on Amazon.  Did the same with Bad Juju.  My novels Halo of the Damned and Halo of the Nephilim are with Eternal Press

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest offenders.  Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Which form of media do you think is the worst offender?

DR: I think sex and violence are part of life and do not mind seeing them on cable TV, R-rated movies, or other adult forums such as radio and literature. Most offensive forms are regular TV shows that air early in the evening.  As the mother of two teenage girls, when I see it on shows such as Awkward, Glee, 2 Broke Girls, etc.-shows that are “designed” for kids-I get really pissed.  For example, Glee.  That show has got a very liberal agenda that has no business being shoved down teenage throats.  Then there is that new show about teenage girls who are pregnant-c’mon.  Of course there is Jersey Shore-wtf?

LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen I truly would have world peace in the blink of an eye. If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

DR: There will never be world peace b/c money will always exploit and religion will always control.  As a Christian, I of course think that my religion is the one that will get me into Heaven.  Someone who is Muslim will never agree with me and vice versa.  Toleration works for me, but obviously not for radicals.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

DR: It depends…If you’re Stephen King, all you need is your name in gigantic print with no background and it’s a guaranteed best seller.  For the little guy just breaking into the world of writing it could be a major part of sales.  Titles are also a big part.  I’m new to all of this and am learning on a day-to-day basis.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

DR: I always thought being an author would be fun.  I got laid off from my teaching position and had the time.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character.  What interests you most about a story?

DR: I like the characters, but am most interested in the plot, subplot, and story line.

LH: I write for fun. Do you write for fun or money?

DR: Obviously fun-LOL!  Money would be nice!

You are just awesome Dina….Now… for the fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage? When I was young it was Jack Daniels.  Now it’s Vitamin water.

Favorite Color? Green-the color of money-haven’t seen that color in a while!

Dogs or Cats? Dogs!!!!!!!!!  I have two-a wolf mix and German Shepherd.  Cats don’t deserve to live-just kiddingJ

Favorite Food? Love food-probably pizza and nachos.

Favorite Song? Anything by the Grateful Dead.

Favorite Movie? Devil’s Advocate, Ninth Gate, Da Vinci Code, Angel Heart, Fallen, The Omen, Rosemary’s Baby, Angels and Demons, Glory, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, JFK, Life is Beautiful, could go on and on and on.

Sex or Chocolate? (The answer “Both” is totally acceptable 😉 Both.
I like to jam candy bars in my face while sitting on top of my husband-LOL!  Just kidding.  That would have to be a turn-off for most men.  But yes, there is a connection.
