Me, Myself & I…

Me: Oh God…Another birthday coming up next week!
Myself: Nothing wrong with that, with age comes wisdom.
I: Birthday? Does that mean there will be cake?
Me: No, no cake, no party, no gifts! None of that crap!
Myself: You are being selfish again. Your birthday is something others celebrate because it was the day you were born and they want to show you how much they love you with gifts, cards, cakes, parties and love.
I: Cake! Cake! Cake! I want Cake!
Me: Well, if they love me so much they’ll just buy me the Poison I want and forget the other crap!
Myself: Again…selfish. What’s going on with you? You are not usually like this…and what the hell are you going to do with Poison?
I: If she’s not letting us have cake…she needs a “birthday” spanking…with a BELT *pouting*
Me: Both of you shut up… Poison is my favorite perfume, as if you didn’t know and no one has to prove how much they love me, I already know and IF I am being selfish, I’ve earned it! I don’t need you two giving me grief about it! What did you think when I said “Poison”? I’m twisted but ‘comon!
Myself: I’m starting to wonder about you…
I: If there’s no cake…she getting that “spanking” for sure! I know people!

Your Name or Pen Name you use:  Lyla Dune

Title of the book you are promoting: Low Tide Bikini (book one in the series Bikini Quartet)

Link to purchase your Book:  (not yet released)

 Genre:  Contemporary Romance

Welcome LD…I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

LD: When I was little, I wanted to be a music teacher and I was one for 20 years. Now, I want to be a writer and I’m in the process of making that a reality.

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

LD: I didn’t have a big influence either. I stumbled into a poetry chatroom one day and decided I wanted to give it a try. I ended up publishing quite a bit of poetry. Next, an online friend invited me to try flash fiction. So, I did that for a while and published some of those. Later, I moved to short stories. Now, here I am writing novels. It’s been quite an evolution, but I’ve loved every minute of it.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

LD: I’m going to self publish my first romance novel this summer. I haven’t even considered submitting my material to the traditional publishers. I like the idea of having more control over my work. But, short stories and poems, I’ve published in a wide array of literary zines both online and print.

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

LD: I write in many different genres. There are stories I’m in the process of putting on paper that I feel are best suited for traditional publishing. The romance genre, however, does well in regards to digital sales, so to start there and build a readership makes sense. My ideal contract would be self-pubbed digital rights, print rights with a traditional publisher.

Bella Andre’ was able to score such a deal, so it is possible.

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies!      Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?
LD: I’d invite Gerard Butler and I doubt I’d be able to discuss a damn thing. I know for sure I wouldn’t talk politics.

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest offenders.  Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Which form of media do you think is the worst offender?

LD: I think society is becoming desensitized to sex and violence because media has overused them to get our attention. It’s hard to shock us anymore. The biggest offenders in my eyes are games, toys, and movies targeting children. The fact that sex and violence are becoming more and more acceptable in arenas designated for children concerns me a great deal.

LH: I’m a huge softie and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

LD: I’d rewire society to seek out the positive instead of the negative. I believe when we focus our energy on the good more good comes into our lives.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

LD: I think it will always matter, because art has the ability to convey many intangible things at a glance. The thing is, I think the image has to be strong and original. If the book cover is too familiar or vague then it probably isn’t much of a drawing card.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

LD: I hated to read as a kid, but I loved to dream and make up songs. I think my love for music and the way a song can tell a story, even without a single word, has inspired my love for story. There is a rhythm one finds in the act of typing. There is a natural rise and fall to every sentence. The more I write, the more I realize, I can’t really say that I was once a musician and now I am a writer. For me, writer and musician are braided into one. I used to make up songs off the cuff and sing them to my dolls before I even knew the alphabet. I think the desire to interact with the world through the magic of words has always lived inside of me.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

LD: I love the improvisation of the story and how it blooms and surprises me when I have no idea what the next sentence will be. But, somehow it lands right in front. It’s a bit like the invisible magic bridge that you have to trust. You step out into nothingness and the next plank appears beneath your foot and supports you with ease.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

LD: It depends on the project. If I’m writing a poem or short story, I usually just start writing and free fall into it. If I’m approaching something novel length, I close my eyes and watch the mind-movie and jot down some notes before I begin chapter one.

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

LD: I’m working on so many vastly different projects, I don’t even know where to begin to explain. When I tried to limit myself to one at a time, however, I felt stifled. I’ve discovered that I need the freedom of variety.
At the moment, my primary focus is my contemporary romance series, Bikini Quartet. The series is set in an imaginary coastal community and centers around four women who are in a jazz fusion ensemble together. Each book features one of the musicians. They call their group Bikini Quartet. Book one is the romance between the double bass player and a retired British rugby player. With an ostrich farm on the island and a small stretch of beach dedicated to the Naughty Naked Seniors, it’s safe to say this series is intended to be quirky, sexy, and a lot of fun.

LH: I’m working on #6…3 are published and the other 3 are due out this year… How many books have you written? How many have been published?

LD: I have yet to complete a novel to the point I feel it is ready to publish. Sure, I have several drafts of manuscripts, but I’m picky. I find that it is through the act of revision that a story really comes to life.
I plan to release book one of Bikini Quartet in July 2013.

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?

LD: Since I’ve never actually been paid more than a couple hundred dollars to write anything,

I definitely write for the love of writing. Having said that, I do intend to make writing my career and I think it is important to treat it like a business, even before turning a profit.

LH: Some of my family members had a bit of a problem with me writing my first book “A Beautiful Liar” because the character Maggie West is basically me…to a point 😉 They had a problem with the genre and me “putting it all out there” so to speak so I took a pen name. They eventually came around as I have never cared who knows who I am what I’ve done or what they think of me. I’ve never wanted to be famous, just infamous! What has been your biggest problem when it comes to family or friends when writing?

LD: I was a school teacher when I started publishing my work and not everything I wrote was appropriate for young readers. I’ve chosen to use pen names. I do use different pen names for different genres, because I don’t want to confuse readers. I wouldn’t publish a horror story under the name Lyla Dune. I would, however, write a horror story under a different name and post a link to it on my Lyla Dune website, stating clearly that this was a horror story.

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

LD: I have never experienced writer’s block. I can always write something, even if it’s just a “to-do-list”. I have felt stuck in a story, though. When that happens, I turn on an egg timer and write five minutes straight, whatever pops into my head, because it gets me writing. Once I start using that writing muscle and inertia kicks in, I can switch over to the story I was working on and keep moving forward.

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

LD: Yes. Join a critique group. There are many online critique groups or you can find one in your area. You will learn so much about the craft of writing by having others read your work and give you feedback on it. You’ll be surprised by how much you learn by being the one doing the critiquing. What’s even more amazing, you will also learn by reading what someone else had to say about someone else’s piece that you also read and critiqued. The more you learn, the better your first drafts will become. Not to mention, your finished products will be far more polished. Opening yourself up to growth via the insight of others is the fastest way to reach the next level.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

LD: My past experiences have shaped the way I approach each new experience. At this stage in my life, I feel grounded and confident that I am capable of making wise and considerate decisions. I acknowledge that I haven’t always chosen well and that I will continue to fall short whenever I ignore my inner voice. If I could change one thing from my past, it would be to never ignore my inner voice, because it’s proven to be a trustworthy compass.

LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, I’d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrong…If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?

LD: The person I want to talk to the most is dead, but I’m not sure I need to go back in time to tell them the things I’d like to say. I think it is possible their spirit knows my heart in a realm beyond language.

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

LD: I’d feel incredibly honored and excited, but cautious, because a lot of my best lines are in descriptive metaphors and internal dialogue. Movies are limited to observation and external dialogue. I’d have to look at the project and see if I felt it was well-suited for movie adaptation. My husband is the first person I’d tell and I’d probably tell him again and again and again, turning one brief announcement into a three hour conversation.

LD is not only an awesome author and woman…she’s my friend 😉 !…Now… for the fun stuff!

And now for the essay part of the interview 😉

If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go, what would you do and who would you take?

LD: See, now this is why I write romance in the first place. I can go anywhere with any hunky guy I can dream of and do whatever I want as many times as I want. Plus I can look any way I want while being with him. AND at the end of the day, I can make him fall madly in love with me, sort of. So, if you really want to know my little naughty fantasies, you know what to do: read my books.

I mean, look, here’s my tag line: Love is a vacation for the heart. Lyla Dune is your tour guide. So there you have it. Every book I write will be a new and very long essay answer to that delightful question of yours.

Thank you for spending this time with us and make sure to pick up your copy of Lyla Dune’s Low Tide Bikini (book one in the series Bikini Quartet) as soon as it hits book shelves near you!

Today’s Tease…Dina Rae

Welcome! Pull up a seat and enjoy a chat with “Today’s Tease” the lovely and talented Eternal Press Author Dina Rae!

Name or Pen Name you use: Dina Rae

Title of the book you are promoting: Halo of the Nephilim

Link to purchase your Book: Will be published on May 1st.  Here is the link for Halo of the Damned: http://www.amazon.com/Halo-of-the-Damned-ebook/dp/B0075XQYDM/ref=sr_1_1_bnp_1_kin?ie=UTF8&qid=1366574700&sr=8-1&keywords=halo+of+the+damned

Genre:  Horror, PNR

Welcome DR….I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

DR: A professional tennis player.  But my parents didn’t have any money for anything, let alone lessons.  I love to play and belong to an indoor club that I joined as a young adult.

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing.  Who influenced you in your writing career?

DR: I love nonfiction, but can never remember the author names.  I also love King, Dan Brown, Rice, Childs, Preston, Rosenberg, LaHaye, Jenkins, George RR Martin, and am getting into Deborah Harkness.  I love to read any genre, but really love a story with a lot of research. I want to walk away from a book and learn something that I didn’t know before.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher.  Are you an Indie or published author?

DR: I am both-The Last Degree was my first book and was published by an unscrupulous publisher who never paid me along with breaking all kinds of promises.  I canceled the contract and figured out how to put it up on Amazon.  Did the same with Bad Juju.  My novels Halo of the Damned and Halo of the Nephilim are with Eternal Press

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest offenders.  Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Which form of media do you think is the worst offender?

DR: I think sex and violence are part of life and do not mind seeing them on cable TV, R-rated movies, or other adult forums such as radio and literature. Most offensive forms are regular TV shows that air early in the evening.  As the mother of two teenage girls, when I see it on shows such as Awkward, Glee, 2 Broke Girls, etc.-shows that are “designed” for kids-I get really pissed.  For example, Glee.  That show has got a very liberal agenda that has no business being shoved down teenage throats.  Then there is that new show about teenage girls who are pregnant-c’mon.  Of course there is Jersey Shore-wtf?

LH: I’m a huge softie and by no means a beauty queen I truly would have world peace in the blink of an eye. If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

DR: There will never be world peace b/c money will always exploit and religion will always control.  As a Christian, I of course think that my religion is the one that will get me into Heaven.  Someone who is Muslim will never agree with me and vice versa.  Toleration works for me, but obviously not for radicals.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

DR: It depends…If you’re Stephen King, all you need is your name in gigantic print with no background and it’s a guaranteed best seller.  For the little guy just breaking into the world of writing it could be a major part of sales.  Titles are also a big part.  I’m new to all of this and am learning on a day-to-day basis.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

DR: I always thought being an author would be fun.  I got laid off from my teaching position and had the time.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character.  What interests you most about a story?

DR: I like the characters, but am most interested in the plot, subplot, and story line.

LH: I write for fun. Do you write for fun or money?

DR: Obviously fun-LOL!  Money would be nice!

You are just awesome Dina….Now… for the fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage? When I was young it was Jack Daniels.  Now it’s Vitamin water.

Favorite Color? Green-the color of money-haven’t seen that color in a while!

Dogs or Cats? Dogs!!!!!!!!!  I have two-a wolf mix and German Shepherd.  Cats don’t deserve to live-just kiddingJ

Favorite Food? Love food-probably pizza and nachos.

Favorite Song? Anything by the Grateful Dead.

Favorite Movie? Devil’s Advocate, Ninth Gate, Da Vinci Code, Angel Heart, Fallen, The Omen, Rosemary’s Baby, Angels and Demons, Glory, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, JFK, Life is Beautiful, could go on and on and on.

Sex or Chocolate? (The answer “Both” is totally acceptable 😉 Both.
I like to jam candy bars in my face while sitting on top of my husband-LOL!  Just kidding.  That would have to be a turn-off for most men.  But yes, there is a connection.

Thank you so much for spending time with us today and make sure get your copy of …Halo of the Damned, The Last Degree, Bad Juju, and Halo of the Nephilim on due out May 1 st on any of these sites!

 Genre:  Paranormal Romance, Menage

Welcome BE ….I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

BE: That is easy.  I wanted to be a cop.  I love investigating everything and figuring out who done it.  That is probably why I write about law enforcement in my books.  I like the mystery not knowing who did it or how they did it.

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

BE: Well I have always dreamed about being a writer and never had the nerve until I started reading Jana Leigh’s books.  I got to know her on Facebook and told her that I had always dreamed of writing.  She was so funny she said “Oh yea, well send me a little something.”  I thought what the hell do I have to loose.  I will never see this woman and she doesn’t live near me so I wrote a brief little bit about a woman who is a werewolf but also much, much more.  I sent it to her thinking I will never hear from this woman again.  Funny because she sent me a contract the next day and told me to finish the book.  I couldn’t believe it.  I sat down and wrote and wrote until I finally finished the book.  I sent it to her and that was my first book:  The Trinity: The Ashland Pack.  Who would have thunk it, but dreams do come true.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

BE: Thank God I was a published author.  I so admire all of you who can do it all.  I wouldn’t know where to start.  I never would have followed my dream if Jana had not found me.  Really all of the Indie writers are such great writers too.  Even with a publisher it is still hard to get your book noticed.  So I applaud the authors who can do that.

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

BE: Well thank goodness I didn’t have to do that.  Again I do applaud those Indie Authors.  The struggle of doing it all is beyond me.  You have to sell it, promote it, and live it everyday.

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies!  Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

BE: Hard question since there are so many I could name, but I would ask my mother to talk to me again.  She has passed away and didn’t live to see this dream come true.  I would tell her all that I have done so far then ask what she thought.  I know my mother and she would have been thrilled and would have purchased all of my books.  The questions I would ask are endless.  So many unanswered questions of daily life and past questions of what she would have done or did.  My mom was the glue and the rock that held my family together.  She is truly missed everyday.

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest offenders. Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Which form of media do you think is the worst offender?

BE: Well I guess I’m just as guilty as anyone since I do put all of those in my books.  I do ask you to be 18 years are older before you read my books, but we are our biggest problem.  We want to teach our kids to do the right thing but then we allow them to watch TV where people our murdered, raped, and beat everyday.  We try to watch what they watch but you can’t watch our children everyday.  We have to pray that we do enough to help turn them into good people and one day great parents.  I tell you, my kids love to play video games.  Lord have you ever watched them. I think they have to be the worst. I used to watch a lot of TV but now I read.  I never knew how much I loved it until now.  I can loose myself inside the characters and dream of worlds that hold the sex and violence but it feels different to me when I read about it.  It takes a lot of the sting out of it instead of watching it.  I hope that makes since.  But I do agree that we do watch too much TV instead of going outside playing with our kids.

LH: I’m a huge softie and by no means a beauty queen, but I truly would have world peace in the blink of an eye if I could. If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

BE: Peace on earth where everyone believes in Jesus.  I really do believe that and pray for it everyday.  I pray for those that are lost will be found.  Now I’m very much a realist but I do pray for it.  I pray that there is hope out there for the people who can’t go on and need help but has no where to find it.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”.  How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

BE: Well I do believe that the cover is what gets you to read the prolog.  I always look at the cover to get an understanding about what the book is about.  So only in opinion from a reader’s point of view, yes I do think the cover is an important part of the consumer buying your product.  I also believe if you are a successful writer and have already got a great following your name alone can get people to read your book.  I believe that is every author’s wish.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

BE: Yes I have always wanted to write and I did write little things here and there when the mood struck me.  However, only later in life did that dream come true.  I know that this saying so funny, but it is true that dreams never die.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character.  What interests you most about a story?

BE: I really have to say the romance of it gets me more then anything.  I’m a sucker for love and trying to get together with the characters. Maybe every woman’s fantasy.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

BE: Ill be honest most of the time I’m in my car alone driving down the road and a certain song can come on and it is strange but a character and a plot forms in my head.  I’m a people watcher and I think about certain people and then think about them in real life or in a place with werewolves and vampires exist then I put the story into everyday life.  Just about anything can bring a story into my head.  In my real job I see a lot of heartache and bad people so even though I put those types of people in my books, they always come out on top.  I know that’s not real life, but that’s why it’s my story and in my book I can do anything.

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol   Are you working on anything now?

BE: I’m always working on something.  At the moment I’m writing book 2 of the Trinity series.  Mace and Lexy: The Ashland Pack should be finished soon.  Then I will be writing #2 in the Once Forgotten Twice Loved series.  I love series if you haven’t noticed.  I have a strictly romance mystery book in my head and it keeps coming up when I’m in the shower or driving down the road so it looks like it wants it’s due and I think I need to give it to them.

LH: I’m working on #6…3 are published and the other 3 are due out this year. How many books have you written? How many have been published?

BE: I have written three books and published all three.  I co-authored my latest with Jana Leigh.  Lord the woman can write a mean bad guy.  I love Jana to death and she gave me my chance.  The name of that book is “Perfect Reflection.”

LH: I write for fun. Do you write for fun or money?

BE: Well I love it and I wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t fun for me.  Hey life is hard enough and I already have a stressful job so I do this for fun, but I do like the money too and I watch to see what is selling.  Lets be honest if it’s not selling then what is the use if nobody reads my stories.  So I would have to say I do this for both.

LH: I have never experienced it. I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

BE: Yes I have, but I read this book that helped me so much with writers block.  It is called “Tell Don’t Show” by James Lofquist.  The book was great for me and helped me so much.  I can’t recommend this book more even if it isn’t mine.  James is an author and teacher and came up with this technique.  So if you have problems with writers block then read this short book.  It is straight to the point without all the junk in between book.  I truly recommend it.  I wish I could get in touch with the name just to let him know how much he has helped my writing.

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advise for new writers?”… Do you?

BE: Yes, and I quote the book “Pooh’s Grand Adventure, The search for Christopher Robin.”

“You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”  It stuck with me and I think it fits when giving advice to people no matter what you are trying to achieve in life.   You have to believe you can do it, and know that you are stronger than you think, and a lot smarter then you give yourself credit for.  So follow your dreams and when they try to knock you off, get back up and dust yourself off and keep trying.  Even when you get those bad reviews and you will trust me.  But if it is your dream then follow that advise and you should do just fine.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did…If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

BE: Well I wasted some of my life day dreaming saying tomorrow I will do that and never did, but it has lead me to this part in my life and I think I will keep it.  I’m happy and I love my husband and children so no I wouldn’t change it.  I did jump out of an airplane one time and I thought my life was ending, but hey that is another story.  LOL

Now…For the Fun Stuff 😉

Favorite Beverage?  Diet FREAKING COKE, THEY WILL BE THE DEATH OF ME.

Exercise or Bubble Bath?  Bubble bath

Favorite Color?  Blue

Sports or Chocolate?  Sports woman, what else is there.

Dogs or Cats?  Well I thought I would never have a cat now I have 2 but I do love dogs.  Cats I guess.

Favorite Food?  Mexican

Favorite Song?  Too many to name but I’m an eighties girl so I love all that type of music and country.

Favorite Movie?  Well you may laugh but every time the damn movie comes on I watch it.  “Jaws” but I love Pretty Woman too so what does that say about me.

Favorite Car?  SUV that has three seats and can carry my crew around.

Sex or Chocolate? (The answer “Both” is totally acceptable 😉

Hands down it is SEX.  I could go forever without eating chocolate but not sex.  Got to have it and I do love to write it.

If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go and who would you take?

BE: To a beach that has the clearest water and I would take my I pad and my husband. LOL

Welcome KG….I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

KG: I was so sure I was going to be a special education teacher. I actually was close to earning my Associate’s in Elementary Education when some personal issues came up and I had to drop out. Then I started writing, and the rest is history!

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher.  Are you an Indie or published author?

KG: At this time I’m an Indie author, and I love it! I wouldn’t turn down a publishing contract, but I love everything about being an Indie, especially how supportive the community is!

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”.  How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

KG: Book covers are important, but by no means are they the most important. The title catches my eye as often as the cover, and even if I love the title and cover, I won’t download if I don’t like the description. So it’s probably 1/3 of the whole for me.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

KG: I have written as far back as I can remember! I used to keep a journal, I wrote notes with my friends, I wrote poetry… I’ve always enjoyed writing.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character.  What interests you most about a story?

KG: I need a character I can FEEL. It doesn’t matter if I love or hate the main character- I need to feel something for them, or I couldn’t care less what happens to them.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing.  How do you come up with your stories?

KG: That varies between stories! Heaven Can Be Hell was written for my grandmother. We lost her to breast cancer in 2010 and the story is very much about her. Puppet of the Fates came to me while sitting in the emergency room after a really stupid accident that broke two of my toes. And the one I’m writing now, End Game, literally came to me in a dream.

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

KG: *laughs* Well, I spilled that above! Yes, I’m working on End Game. It was supposed to be a short story, but it’s shaping up into a novella, about two college boys who get trapped in their favorite video game when they insult the characters too often. Now they’re fighting to survive, and hoping they may someday return to their former lives. It’s a paranormal thriller.

LH: I’m working on #6…3 are published and the other 3 are due out this year.  How many books have you written? How many have been published?

KG: I have a series of 4 books out called the Just One Bite series, 3 short stories, and Puppet of the Fates under this name, Kay Glass. I also have 7 erotic short stories published under the pen name Kendra Glenn.

LH: I write for fun. Do you write for fun or money?

KG: Oh, I definitely write for fun! Even if I never sold a single copy, I’d have to write. Fortunately the Indie world allows for my work to reach others who might be interested!

LH: I have never experienced it. I have experienced writers “don’t want to”…

Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

KG: I have, yes. I often have 3 or 4 projects going at once, so if one doesn’t appeal to me or if I just can’t finish it, I move on to something else that inspires me. I also design my own covers, so if I’m stuck on a scene, I work on a cover and let my mind puzzle it over. Usually when the cover is done, so is the problem!

You are too funny! Now….For the Fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage? COFFEE!!!!!!

Exercise or Bubble Bath? Exercise

Favorite Color? Blue- any shade of blue

Sports or Chocolate? Oooh… toughie… what kind of chocolate? *LOL* Chocolate!

Dogs or Cats? I have both, but I’m a cat person!

Favorite Food? Favorite? I just like food!

Favorite Song? Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers

Favorite Movie? What Dreams May Come

Favorite Car? A pickup! I’m a truck girl!

Sex or Chocolate? (The answer “Both” is totally acceptable 😉 Definitely sex, but sex with chocolate can be very… fun!

And now for the essay part of the interview 😉

If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go and who would you take?

KG: Key West! I adore Key West! My mom took me when I was sixteen, and I loved it. I’d love to go back now that I’m old enough to drink and party. My hubby has never been, so I’d love for the two of us to go and hang out in Mallory Square, enjoying the sunset celebration. We could eat at Pepe’s, hang out at Sloppy Joe’s, Margaritaville… Not that I’ve given this any thought! It’s a beautiful place, and I’d love to spend some quality time with the hubby is such a wonderful location… without the kids!
