Today’s Tease Dawné Dominique

Welcome! Pull up a seat and enjoy a chat with Today’s Tease Dawné Dominique

Your Name or Pen Name you use:    Dawné Dominique

Title of the book you are promoting:   Crimson Cries, IV: The First

Link to purchase your Book:  http://www.amazon.com/Crimson-Cries-The-First-Volume/dp/1612920667/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1366956932&sr=8-6&keywords=Crimson+cries

 Genre:  erotica paranormal romance

Other Special Talents we should know about:  Well…I’m also a cover artist.

Welcome DD….I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

DD: I wanted to be a policewoman, but back then they had height requirements. Do you know it’s impossible to grow three inches in a year?  Damn! So I became a paralegal.

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

DD: Me, myself and I. It was far better to live in my imagination than in the real world.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

DD: My very first submissions went to two different publishers. Both were accepted. One publisher was great…the other an absolute nightmare. I learned a lot back then. Being self-published in those days wasn’t the same as it is today.

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

DD: I’m more the opposite. I have a few stories I’d like to self-publish in the future, but just haven’t found the time to do so.  I’m a little frightened going it alone.

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies! Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

?????? You have me stumped on this one.

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest offenders. Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Which form of media do you think is the worst offender?

DD: I totally agree with you. When a nine year old knows what a BJ is that’s flabbergasting to me.  To me the worst offender is not the media, but rather cell phones. It’s opens up too many forms of media for the young. And let’s not mention the bullying that has escalated since its inception.  The world moves much too fast. Children learn too much too soon. We’ve become a society of sponges wherein we soak in as much as possible and as quickly as possible. But so do the youngsters.

LH: I’m a huge softie and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happen…If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

DD: Get rid of cell phones!  *chuckles*

LH: A little birdie told me you are a graphic artist…in fact, I know you did a beautiful book cover for my book “A Beautiful Liar” How did you get into that and is that your only artistic talent?

Man, I’m not going to have any secrets left after this interview.  : )  I’m also a painter (large canvas), a knitter, a Christmas tree ornament creator (every Christmas I design and create over 100 Christmas tree ornaments for friends and family).

DD: LH: My mother was a wonderful artist; I however, cannot draw a stick figure! Where did your artistic ability come from or are you self taught? Will you indulge us with some of your favorite work?

DD: I’ve been doing cover art for about ten years now and had to self-teach myself everything I know.  Some of my favorite work is in the horror genre. I can’t watch those types of movies, but I can create cover art.  Go figure!

My twin sister excels at all sports; my older brother wrote songs (poetry). I write novels. My little brother is mentally retarded, but he draws and makes jewelry. My mom has told me she has no idea why we all ended up being creative, but I believe it runs in the family.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start? When did you decide that you wanted to start doing covers as well?

DD: I started writing as soon as I learned to print, but no one ever knew. I kept my stories to myself because it was my little private world. When I was a teenager, I wrote poetry as a way of making it through those difficult years. An outlet, so to speak. As for cover art…I had created sigs in my writing forum for other authors. When I was first published, the publisher asked if I wanted to create the covers for all the anthologies.  It was a challenge I couldn’t turn down. I haven’t looked back since.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

DD: I was a fantasy writer first, like Lord of the Rings, but with kick-ass lead heroines.  I believe my best writing skill is world building. When I read and I can place myself right in the thick of a story and be there alongside the characters, then I’m reading a damn good book.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

DD: They usually come to me at the most inopportune time, like in the shower.  And yes, it will run like a movie in my head, too.  And here I thought I was the only one that was weird.   ; )

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?

DD: I’m working on the final novel of my vampire series. I started the series in early 2000.  It’s time to end it.  I have about six novels in the work. It’s finding the time to devote to them.

LH: I’m working on #6…3 are published and the other 3 are due out this year… How many books have you written? How many have been published?

DD: I’ve probably written over fifty novels. It wasn’t until I joined a writing forum that I finally finished one. It gave me structure I needed to follow through with it. When I finished that one novel, it gave me the push I needed to quit my paralegal job of twenty years and write full-time.  I have about 9 books published.

LH: I write for fun I don’t even dream of riches…Do you write for fun or money?

DD: I write for myself. My characters tell me their stories. I’m merely their conduit. I didn’t become a writer to get rich, but it would be nice to one day be able to retire and buy hubby that Harley he’s always wanted.

LH: Some of my family members had a bit of a problem with me writing my first book “A Beautiful Liar” because the character Maggie West is basically me…to a point 😉 They had a problem with the genre and me “putting it all out there” so to speak so I took a pen name. They eventually came around as I have never cared who knows who I am what I’ve done or what they think of me. I’ve never wanted to be famous, just infamous! What has been your biggest problem when it comes to family or friends when writing?

DD: Hands down…the reading of the sex.  I’m not a fluffy, purple prose writer. I tell like it is and my erotic writing reflects just that.  When my Mom got to those parts, she had to put my book down. Friends have asked if those scenes are based on my real life experiences.  I confess that some are, but a lot aren’t. I’m a writer with a vivid imagination.  I’ve also been married to the same man for over thirty years (moved in with him when I was seventeen).  I think I’ve said too much.  *smirks*  I use a penname for those types of novels. I use D. Thomas Jerlo for my fantasy and horror.

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

DD: Gads, count yourself luck.  I just overcame a period of it.  It lasted almost a year. It’s horrid. I’d write something, re-read it, then delete it. Nothing worked. Nothing enticed. My imagination shriveled and died. I recently lost my older brother, and then my twin spiraled out of control.  With so much happening in my life, my muse left. I had to overcome a very dark, bleak time in my life recently. Creating cover art helped immensely.

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

DD: Don’t allow an editor to change your voice. Follow your instincts and your heart.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

DD: That’s a volatile question. There’s a lot of things I would change. In fact, too many to list.  One that I will mention.  I wouldn’t rush my daughter growing up.  As a parent I was in a hurry to see her walk. Then talk. What her first day at school would be like, etc..  When I think back it’s like I was pushing her to grow up so I could experience what she was going to be like instead of taking one day at a time and just enjoying the moment. I have a granddaughter now and can completely understand why grandparents are so much more patient than parents. We actually have an opportunity to learn from our mistakes.

LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, I’d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrong…If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?

DD: That would be my first boyfriend and him telling me “I love you”.  I’d tell him he was liar (which he was).  Punching him in the face comes to mind, too.  Oh, dear. I said that out loud, didn’t I?  I’m not a violent person. In fact, just the opposite, but I would have really liked to hurt that guy.

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and I’d probably go into hiding. I don’t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

DD: Now that would be freaking AWESOME!  If my words could be depicted into a movie…I’ve died and gone to heaven.

YOU Rock DD…Now… for the fun stuff!

And now for the essay part of the interview 😉

If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go, what would you do and who would you take?

DD: It would definitely be with my husband. He still makes my heart pitter-patter, and it would be any place in Europe. As long as we were together it could be in the garden shed out back.  ; )

Chapter One~Killing the Desire~Adult Situations and Language

Chapter One-Killing the Desire

He stood over her, smiling, cock in hand. As he gently stroked it, he looked deep into her beautiful, deep, dark blue eyes. The kind of blue that you only find in the ocean waters of the Bahamas. They were blue, but they were sprinkled with tiny specks of green and gold.

My God, they are beautiful eyes, he thought as he got close to cumming again, those gorgeous eyes fixed on him. Those gorgeous, brilliant blue eyes!

They were deep, soulful, kind eyes. They were mesmerizing and captivating eyes. They were also dead eyes. He’d seen to that when he choked the life out of her with his bare hands fifteen minutes beforehand. She hadn’t been fucked proper in a long time, so he knew she had thoroughly enjoyed the fucking she had just endured. He could tell by the way things got a little rough. He liked it rough. Afterwards, when it came time to finish her off, this one hadn’t put up much of a fight. He had wondered a couple of times beforehand if she was going to be a problem as she was in pretty good shape for pushing fifty. She must have known she was no match for him because she really didn’t struggle much. She just kind of grabbed his hands, pulled at them a bit, opened those beautiful blue eyes of hers as wide as they’d go and went limp in his grasp.

No time to reminisce, he thought to himself as he shook off the image. It was time to clean up his mess. As good as jacking himself off felt, he had work to do. He knew that his ultimate release would come later, at home, when he replayed the scene of the actual moment he snuffed the life out of her over and over in his head. It would feel better than actually fucking her had.

He picked up her lifeless body and carried her into the bathroom. He placed her into the tub of hot water that he ran while he went into the laundry room to get the bleach. As he left the bedroom to go to the laundry room, he picked up the condom he used and its wrapper and placed them into the plastic baggie he’d brought with him. He placed the baggie into his pocket to take with him. He returned to the bathroom and poured the bleach into the tub to make sure he hadn’t left any evidence behind. As he watched the tub fill with more water, he thought about the mundane dinner they’d shared and the boring stories she told him about her “wonderful” children. She did mention the fact she had a couple of daughters. He wondered what it would be like to fuck them proper, too, and then choke the life out of each one of them as well.

He also wondered, If she’d known she was eating her last meal at that very moment, would she have gone ahead and ordered the dessert? The dumb bitch, what did she expect meeting strange men off the internet? He scanned the bathroom and bedroom to make sure he hadn’t left any other evidence behind before he returned the bleach to the laundry room and left. He was meticulous like that. He left her there, in the tub full of bleach water, eyes open, blank stare on her face, a smile on his, just like he’d left the others.

  * * * *

Their short-lived affair had started a little less than a month ago when Rebecca Harlow met him on a social media site. The site was a place where you could set up a profile, meet people, connect with family and friends, or just hang out and play games. He called what he did there “profiling.” That’s where he would look through profiles of women, pick out the ones that he found attractive, and befriend them.

Too bad for this woman, among others, that he picked her. She’d accepted his friend request, chatted with him for about three weeks, and then accepted his invitation to meet him for coffee.

Their first date had gone well. Rebecca found him very charming. He was tall, dark, handsome and young. His six-foot-two frame was long and lean. His face was tanned and chiseled. He was more than handsome, he was fucking hot and he knew it.

Rebecca was a beauty as well. She was five-foot-ten, one hundred fifty pounds, with long, dark red hair; full, thick, pouty lips; and big, beautiful, blue eyes. The kind of eyes you could get lost in. She had lily-white skin that was perfectly tanned. She had perfect tits and a great ass and didn’t look anywhere near her age of forty-eight.

Rebecca had four children that she had practically raised on her own as her husband was always gone. She had come from poverty, married rich, and divorced even richer. She had no need to work, so she spent her days at the pool, lunching with her adult daughters and girlfriends, or shopping. She was a kind, goodhearted woman with a penchant for young, good-looking men. Never in her wildest dreams, and she had plenty of them, did she think that her penchant would get her killed one day.

Rebecca usually introduced at least one of her daughters to the men she was dating but decided not to even tell them about the gorgeous young man whom she had met online. After all, he was eighteen years her junior and she was sure that he was just going to be a play thing so she was going to keep him all to herself, at least for the foreseeable future. After all, the age difference did make her a cougar, and she really hated that label because her kids and girlfriends teased her mercilessly about it. Not introducing them turned out to be the biggest mistake of her life.

Rebecca agreed to meet “Ben” at the local coffee house one mild autumn afternoon for coffee and conversation. Nothing too formal, just a meet and greet. They spent two and a half hours talking. They’d spent close to a hundred hours talking on the phone, chatting on the computer, and texting each other over the past three weeks, and she was amazed at how much information he had retained about her. He remembered that her favorite flower was the gladiola. He remembered her kids’ names. He even remembered that she didn’t like to be called Rebecca but “Becks.” When he wasn’t calling her “Beautiful” or “Gorgeous” or “Hottie,” he was calling her Becks. She really liked that.

She also really liked that he paid attention to her. That was something her ex-husband had never done. He was always away on business. When he was home, he was busy. He was busy playing golf, busy with his boat, busy with his friends, busy with something besides Becks. They’d been married for twenty-five years and divorced for two. Twenty-five of the best years of her life, four children, and all she got was the house, two cars and a three million dollar lump sum settlement in the divorce. During the last two years of their marriage, they had the most pathetic sex you could imagine: twice, and Becks didn’t even care. She’d discovered hot young men and a vibrator. She’d go to the University coffee shop, watch all the hard-bodied young men come and go, imagine them touching her, kissing her, fucking and sucking her, then go home and get her trusted dildo out and fuck herself into a frenzy. Who needed a husband? All she needed was his money, and she was good at spending it. She managed to spend over four hundred thousand dollars in the last two years of their marriage on “things,” as she’d tell him, when he’d bother to ask.

Little did he know that she had set up accounts in her kids’ names and socked away the money. Becks was not only a beautiful woman, she was one smart cookie when it came to looking after her kids.

After their coffee date, Ben asked Becks to have dinner with him a couple of days later. She eagerly agreed as it had been a long time since she enjoyed the company of a man, in any way, shape or form. Too bad it would be the last time.
