Welcome LL…I, LH have some questions for you 😉

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

LL: I wanted to marry a rich man sit around all day and just do whatever I wanted, when I wanted. Alas that was not the future I ended up with. Not that I’m complaining. I have a rich and fulfilled life, full of love and laughter.

LH: I didn’t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

LL: As a teenage I use to read my mother’s Mills and Boon Romance Novels, my favorites Authors (apparently also my mother’s as she had loads of their books) were Anne Mather and Roberta Leigh. I think that this was because they romantic encounters were a wee bit raunchy for they time.  I then discovered Steven King. Once I had a Steve King book in my grasp I did not put it down until the end of the book. Reading his books, made me want to be a writer. But being dyslexic I found this desire difficult to accomplish to begin with – so I gave up – only coming back to it as I got older. Living in the age of technology and the software supports it provides for people like me. I’m now living the dream.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then “discovered” by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

LL: Being new to the literary industry. I had to look up the meaning of an indie author as I keep hearing the phrase (For shame… lol). Learning that an indie author meant a self-publishing author and this being my current position. I would have to classify myself as an Indie published author.

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

LL: I don’t think I mind either way at present. Being new to everything I’ve been relying on the support and advice of more established seasoned author, through social networks and forums. What I’ve found, is that the jury is still out on this. The ‘For’ or ‘Against’ very much depends on who I’ve been talking to and where they stand – is dependent on where they’re at in their literary career.  I’m not there yet; I do enjoy self-publishing for now. But it‘s hard work.

LH: This is easy for me…I’d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies!  Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

LL: Not wishing to encroach on your sloppy seconds (lol… Johnny Depp would have been my first choice). I would invite James Dean and we would not be discussing the price of a bread. 

LH: I personally think that there is way too much sex and violence everywhere in society these days and it’s everywhere but that Hollywood is one of the biggest offenders.   Do you think that society as a whole is subjected to too much sex and violence and are you concerned about it? Which form of media do you think is the worst offender?

LL: I think the level of violence has gone up.  However is it the level that’s gone up or our exposure through the varying media channel’s, I’m still scratching my head on this one. As for too much sex! I’d be so blooming lucky!  I live in England a ‘nanny state’, where a group of busy bodies on a censor panel; watch all the good stuff –  then tells me it’s too explicit for me to watch and then it banned.  Only to return on a pirated dvd…  😉

LH: I’m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queen… lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye If I could make it happen. If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

LL: I would like to see the end of famine.  There is enough food in the world that no one should go hungry.  Yet we have countries who can waste food and then on the flipside countries who struggle just to grow a grain of rice.  That breaks my heart…

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I don’t buy the hype that “the cover is everything”. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?                                 

LL: I think this argument is subjective. The only thing I’m sure of is my book cover is important to me.  It’s very important that I like it.  Then I pray that others show my good taste and like it too (smile).  However saying that I don’t buy a book based on its cover, I tend to read the summary.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?                            

LL: I’ve always wanted to write I would scribble on anything I could find mostly writing my name on everything so got into trouble a lot for that as a kid.  When I’d write on the walls at home.  My mum would call me and my sibling to her and asked which one of us wrote on the wall we would all say in unison ‘it wasn’t me.’ My mum would then grab me by the scruff of my neck and say it was you the little twat you wrote your name.  Then I’d get my ear twisted for lying and sponge and bucket to clean it off.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?                                                           

LL: I love stories I can play in my head like a projector. Just enough details and description for me to get the projector warmed up. Then it has to maintain a steady momentum otherwise I will struggle to finish it. I’ve never wanted be the character just an interested voyeur.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?            

LL: I wish I could get a movie playing in my head for my own writing but sadly I don’t.  I just get a bombardment of ideas that wash over me whenever they choose to – sometimes in order for one particular story. Sometimes while I’m in the middle of writing a different story or doing something else totally unrelated.

LH: I can’t tell you or I’d have to…lol Are you working on anything now?   

LL: I have just finished the second book of my 13 Doors book series and will be publishing it very soon. I’m just waiting for the editor to get back to me on it. I’ve started on my third book of the series and I have two new books I’m working on, which are in the Urban Fantasy genre but still maintain a large element of Erotica within the theme.                                                                           

LH: I’m working on #6…3 are published and the other 3 are due out this year… How many books have you written? How many have been published?            

LL: I’m working on 5 books I’ve only published one and the second one will be published this month.  It my intention to publish the other 3 by August of this year.

LH: I write for fun… Do you write for fun or money? 

LL: I write for fun.  I love to tell stories.  I’m always making up characters in my head or would look at people and create a character from their behavior or attitude.  If I could draw, I would have some amazing character illustrations. The images just seem to come alive in my heads. Writing is my passion but I like having money too (can’t live without it).

LH:: I have never experienced it. I have experienced writers “don’t want to”… Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

LL: I think I have the opposite. I have writer’s laxative. It just pours out of me but it a lot of different stories and they come cascading through all jumbled and messy.  I’m still sorting them out into their individual category and books.  I think I might have ‘Curse of the Newbie’…

 

LH: I get asked all the time “Do you have any advice for new writers?”… Do you?

LL: I am a new writer and my advice to myself is you write because you love to write and have a story to tell. So just keep writing the more I do it the better I will get at it. Join forum and get to know other author. Writers are sociable, knowledgeable and helpful so get mingling. I love the feedback I get when people like my stories.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I did… If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

LL: I’m happy with my life.  I believe I am the sum of my experiences, be them good or bad.  My trials and tribulations are valuable lesson I needed to learn. So like you I wouldn’t change a thing.  However if I could go back in time about 4 months I would have gone on that web design course.   

LH: If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?

LL: If I could go back in time I would go and see Arnold Schwarztnegger and tell his to keep his clothes on in Terminator 3 or use a body double. (I’m still having nightmares [shiver]).

If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about it…where would you go, what would you do and who would you take?

 

LL: I would go to the Caribbean – (XXX) – with Tyson Beckford. (Do I lose marks for the poor word count on my essay 😉
