Today’s Tease…Sandra Shrewsbury

Welcome! Pull up a seat and enjoy a chat with Todayā€™s TeaseĀ Sandra Shrewsbury

Your Name or Pen Name you use:Ā  Sandra Shrewsbury

Title of the book you are promoting:Ā  Outside The Addiction ā€“ A Motherā€™s Story

Ā Link to purchase your Book:Ā  http://www.amazon.com/Outside-Addiction-Mothers-Sandra-Shrewsbury-ebook/dp/B00ERYQ5RM/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1392760977&sr=1-1&keywords=sandra+shrewsbury

Ā Genre: Non Fiction

Ā Welcome Ā SS….I, LH have some questions for you šŸ˜‰

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

SS: I have always wanted to be a nurse, so I could take care of everyone and help make them better.

LH: I didnā€™t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

SS:Ā I would have to say it was Author Genevieve Scholl, She has been there every step of the way through this journey. She was the one who told me I needed to write this book.

LH: I self published all of my books and was then ā€œdiscoveredā€ by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

SS:Ā I am an Indie

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

SS:Ā I really donā€™t know, I have not dealt with publisher before so I donā€™t know how it would be.

LH: This is easy for meā€¦Iā€™d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies! Ā Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

SS:Ā Vin Diesel and we would not be talking much at all.

LH: Iā€™m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queenā€¦ lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happenā€¦If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

SS:Ā I want all the hate and judging to go away. I think if people would love more and not be so judging the world would be a better place.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I donā€™t buy the hype that ā€œthe cover is everythingā€. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

SS:Ā  I do look at the covers first, if it catches my eye I usually read it. I also like paperbacks to read better then e-books.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

SS:Ā Ā I wrote in a journal when I was young but I never wanted to be a writer until now.

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

SS:Ā  It has to catch me from the beginning or I lose interest and wonā€™t finish it. I love action, romance and paranormal.

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

SS:Ā Mine are from my life experiences

LH: I canā€™t tell you or Iā€™d have toā€¦lol Are you working on anything now?

SS: Yes part two of my first book. It will be titled Aftermath Of An addiction. The cover reveal will be on March 7th, 2014 and it will be released in May 2014. I am also doing my first YA book called Spirit Riders which will be out this fall.

LH: I have 6 books out. How many books have you written? How many have been published?

SS:Ā  I have one published and I am working on two now.

LH: I write for fun I donā€™t even dream of richesā€¦Do you write for fun or money?

SS:Ā I have a message I want to get out there to my readers. I am not in this to become rich or famous.

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers ā€œdonā€™t want toā€ā€¦ Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

SS:Ā I have and I had to stop writing for a while and then I would go back in a few days and it was back.

LH: I get asked all the time ā€œDo you have any advice for new writers?ā€ā€¦ Do you?

SS:Ā I would say let nothing stop you, just keep writing.

LH: I would not change one thing in my life as I would not be me if I didā€¦ If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

SS:Ā Ā I would have to say that if I could change one thing it would be that my daughter never would have become an addict.

LH: If I could go back in time and tell someone something, Iā€™d go back and tell the founding fathers they were doing a few things wrongā€¦If you could go back in time and tell someone something, who would you tell and what would you tell them?

SS:Ā I would have to say my father and I would tell him how much I love him because I never did and it was too late after he had past away.

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and Iā€™d probably go into hiding. I donā€™t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

SS:Ā Ā I would tell my family and I would be shocked.

Thank you for that honest and real interview SS…Nowā€¦ for the fun stuff!

LH: If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about itā€¦where would you go, what would you do and who would you take?

SS:Ā Ā I would have to say Ireland and I would take my niece Kathy with me and we would explore everything there. I have always wanted to go there because my family came from Ireland. Maybe find a Irish man to hang out with too.

Todayā€™s Tease…Nola Sarina

Welcome! Pull up a seat and enjoy a chat with Todayā€™s Tease Nola Sarina

Your Name or Pen Name you use:Ā  Nola Sarina

Title of the book you are promoting:Ā  Wild Hyacinthe

Link to purchase your Book:Ā  http://www.amazon.com/Wild-Hyacinthe-Crimson-Romance-ebook/dp/B00FM85OC4/

Genre:Ā  Spicy Paranormal Romance (Erotic Demon romance)

WelcomeĀ  NS…I, LH have some questions for you šŸ˜‰

LH: I wanted to be a ballerina, race car driver and a private detective when I was little. What did you want to be when you grew up?

NS: I always wanted to be a writer. I went through phases where I changed my mind now and then, but writing was always there.

LH: I didnā€™t really have a literary influence, I just decided one day to start writing. Who influenced you in your writing career?

NS:: Many things influenced me ā€“ from the time I was little I was inspired by Jo in Little Women, and Anne Frank. Then, as I grew older, I began to reach out to authors for conversation and surprisingly, a few of them replied to me!

LH: I self published all of my books and was then ā€œdiscoveredā€ by a publisher. Are you an Indie or published author?

NS:: I am actually both. Iā€™m represented by Michelle Johnson of Inklings Literary Agency, and my Vesper novellas (GILDED DESTINY & JADED TOUCH) are independent while WILD HYACINTHE is co-authored with my friend and fellow Cackling Moms blogger Emily Faith.

LH: As an Indie Author, I was hesitant about being with a publishing company. If you are an Indie author, would you like to be published by a traditional publisher and if so, why or why not?

NS:: While Iā€™ve enjoyed the self-publishing process with my Vesper novellas, working with Crimson Romance on WILD HYACINTHE has been such a lovely experience. We were really excited when Michelle gave us the news they wanted to publish it, and working with the editors to perfect the balance of a story that features a totally non-traditional demon as a hero was a fun, educational (and challenging!) process. I truly enjoy the traditional publishing process more because of the team environment involved with traditional houses.

LH: This is easy for meā€¦Iā€™d invite Johnny Depp and I would not discuss movies! Ā Who would you invite to dinner, living or dead, and what one topic would you NOT discuss with them?

NS:: I would invite the Dalai Lama and NOT discuss the pile of laundry behind me that needs to be folded.

LH: Iā€™m a huge softy and by no means a beauty queenā€¦ lol but, I truly would want world peace in the blink of an eye if I could make it happenā€¦If you could change one thing in the world, in the blink of an eye, what would it be?

NS:: I would snap my fingers and make wholesome food consumption an easy, indisputably attainable goal for all people. Over-processed food is full of poison, yet there are many situations in which eating whole foods is not reasonable or affordable. I wish I could rid my house of processed foods entirely, but society functions in a way that makes that difficult for many families. Weā€™d all be happier and healthier if we still ate nothing but real foods and no chemical crap.

LH: With the traditional bookstore becoming obsolete and everyone turning to buying books online, I donā€™t buy the hype that ā€œthe cover is everythingā€. How important do you think book covers are now that almost all shopping is done online?

NS:: I think book covers are extremely important, but I fervently disagree that the traditional bookstore is obsolete. Traditional bookstores are adapting to the shift toward ebooks, and itā€™s only a matter of time before POD books are easier to find in bookstores through consignment programs, etc. I still feel having a winning cover (and by winning, I mean unique) is a critical step in making good book sales.

LH: I can remember wanting to write as a kid. I got a really late start! Have you always wanted to write and when did you start?

NS:: I wrote my first book at the age of six. It was about a girl and her brother Vincent who died of smallpox. My mother found it a little bit morbid, since the critical page in the book said, ā€œThen one day, Vincent died. He had smallpox.ā€

Funny, Iā€™m still offing characters now and then. šŸ™‚

LH: I love to see if I can see myself in a character. What interests you most about a story?

NS:: Itā€™s the emotion that gets me. I want to feel every moment of every interaction, I want to be left with lingering feelings that are hard to shake after being immersed so wholly in a character. Hopefully, thatā€™s what readers get from my books, too. *gnaws fingernails in anticipation*

LH: For me, I just get hit with this whole movie in my head and start writing. How do you come up with your stories?

NS:: Itā€™s the character who comes to me first. The story evolves after I know what kind of personal journey the character is preparing to embark upon.

LH: I canā€™t tell you or Iā€™d have toā€¦lol Are you working on anything now?

NS:: Emily Faith and I are deep in a sequel edit right now and the beginning of a new series, and I have somewhere between 4-6 novels on the go at the moment.

LH: I have 6 books publishedā€¦ How many books have you written? How many have been published?

NS:: I have three books published out of a completed 7-9. All of the unpublished ones need revision, though. I believe I evolve with every book I write and owe it to my characters to revisit and re-sculpt their stories as needed.

LH: I write for fun I donā€™t even dream of richesā€¦Do you write for fun or money?

NS:: I write because I just have to. I had a few adult years where I wasnā€™t writing, and I was miserable. I crave the creative expression. I cherish my characters. Itā€™s bliss, and if I happen to make a dime or two off it, bonus!

LH: Some of my family members had a bit of a problem with me writing my first book ā€œA Beautiful Liarā€ because the character Maggie West is basically meā€¦to a point šŸ˜‰ They had a problem with the genre and me ā€œputting it all out thereā€ so to speak so I took a pen name. They eventually came around as I have never cared who knows who I am what Iā€™ve done or what they think of me. Iā€™ve never wanted to be famous, just infamous! What has been your biggest problem when it comes to family or friends when writing?

NS:: I know not all of my family or friends will approve of what I write. It doesnā€™t bother me. My problem is that Iā€™m highly social with family and friends, and sometimes I feel torn between my worlds and the real world. I try to strike a healthy balance of living in both.

LH: I have never experienced writers block…I have experienced writers ā€œdonā€™t want toā€ā€¦ Have you ever experienced writers block and if so, how did you overcome it?

NS:: Not actual ā€œblock,ā€ no. Iā€™ve had speed bumps. But every time I take a week or two away from writing (or a couple months, once), I come back refreshed and ready to kick ass.

LH: I get asked all the time ā€œDo you have any advice for new writers?ā€ā€¦ Do you?

NS:: Yes. Learn how to accept criticism. Learn to apply that which you should incorporate into your writing to better yourself, and learn which pieces of advice are best left behind to maintain your individuality.

LH: I would freak out if someone contacted me and said they wanted to make one of my books or my series of book into a movie as I am really very shy in person and Iā€™d probably go into hiding. I donā€™t think I could handle it. How would you handle it? Who would be the first person you told?

NS: Well, first, Iā€™d tell my agent. I would be excited to see what kind of creative vision the creator of the movie had for my characters and stories. It would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience to see what kind of inspiration Iā€™ve been to other artists in other mediums.

Thanks for that fun and fascinating interview NSā€¦Nowā€¦ for the fun stuff!

Favorite Beverage? Coffee

Exercise or Bubble Bath? Bath after exercise

Favorite Color? At the moment, purple. It kind of depends on what Iā€™m writing.

Take out or Dine in? Dine in.

Camping or Hotel? I wish I could say camping, but hotel.

Sports or Chocolate? Chocolate

Dogs or Cats? Cats ā€“ allergic to dogs. šŸ˜¦

Favorite Food? Sushi

Favorite Song? Right now, Demons by Imagine Dragons

Favorite Movie? THE GREAT GATSBY OMG THANK YOU FOR ASKING THIS JUST SO I HAD AN EXCUSE TO MENTION IT

Favorite Car? Lamborghini Gallardo.

Sex or Chocolate? (The answer ā€œBothā€ is totally acceptable šŸ˜‰ Both. Absolutely both.

And now for the essay part of the interview šŸ˜‰

LH: If you could go anywhere for a week, with anyone you wanted and no one would ever find out about itā€¦where would you go, what would you do and who would you take?

NS: Is it silly to say Iā€™d take all of my imaginary friends (characters) somewhere exotic and sit down with them and go over their stories to make sure I really have it all correct? Iā€™d document their feelings, their goals, where they see themselves going, watch how they interact with each otherā€¦ God, Iā€™m obsessedā€¦ and then Iā€™d thank them from the bottom of my heart for being such awesome people. And thank them all for not killing or eating me.
